D'angelo & Mo

Last night was one of the few times we had the hight advantage with Moe and Gift and Moe spends the whole night on the perimeter. I don't get it.

D'Angelo shoots in streaks and will win more games for us when he's in a zone. He was there last night and you could see it in his eyes.

The trouble is that when he's off who can you turn to?

The only other shooter is Mo but for most of the game he justs coasts and blends in.

If I were the coach I would tell Mo that this is his team and if we are going to win he has to look towards the basket and think about scoring every time he touches the ball.

D'Angelo shoots in streaks, but how many freshmen don't? His production has been real good. Sooner he gets comfortable, there will be more consistency in his shooting as well.

I don't think Mo is a worry, it's the fact that we have no PG going into BE play.

Does anybody know if Lavin has any PG's on his radar for next season? While we haven't heard much recruiting news concerning the Johnnies, the only names that keep coming up are bigs such as Gathers and Sampson. Are we in the hunt for any PG's at this point? Even a solid JUCO would be a welcome addition.

The team needs one badly, you would have to think Lavin is all over it.

There's few if any highly ranked PG's still out there. One of the highest ranked is at Findlay but I think as a post grad so Amir probably doesn't even know him to support. Juco may be the place to look.

I think Phil will grow into the job. You're looking at a bunch of freshmen - none of them is a finished product and all of them are going to improve. They're getting good coaching and great experience with all the minutes available right now.

Well if nothing else he will get tons of minutes and experience at it this season.

Given that our freshmen are playing 30+ minutes a game I would think that by next year they would be closer to Jrs. than sophs. I don't know what the average frosh gets as far as minutes and I imagine there are a few that get as many but they are few and far between-not all five frosh and a first year JUCO that are on the same team-I hope what I am saying comes out making sense.
I am also looking forward to seeing how the first year players-frosh and JUCO- develop in the off season-weight/strength wise as well as skill wise. Having gotten such a big taste of college ball they will go into the off season aware of what they need to do to improve their overall game. So, though being so thin and young is a hurdle this year I think it will prepare the team for a much better season next year.

Mo is going to be some player and I think many of us see it. I too would like to see him get more aggressive on offense, and I think in time he will. I loved how he shut the door the other night on that former airline team.

I think every one of the starters will play for pay in the long run. Moe is a lock for the league and DeAngelo has a good chance. God's Gift is a shocker and could be a nice PF for someone. Dom just needs an offensive game but defenders like him stick in the league. Garrett seems the same but it's early. Greene is another surprise and looks better at PG every game. This team is going to be something next year.

Anyone else think he maybe D'Angelo turned a corner last night? He took the game over for this team, a lot like Hardy did last year when we needed him to. Hopefully he develops into that go-to guy we need. Based on last night, he's got the will to do it.

Maybe I'm reading too much into a performance against a bad team, but at least his confidence is high going into the BE.

Mo is just too damn good not to be more of a factor in games. Needs to become more of an offensive threat for this team. When he puts it altogether, it's going to be scary
.

You pretty much nailed it hoopNUT. B)

The "D'angelo & Mo Show" is coming soon to an arena near u!!

Harrison just keeps getting better and better. He just knows the game. Draws charging fouls regularly and plays mistake free (0 t/os last night) ball. His shot selection is excellent for a frosh and he can hit any one he takes. By next season this guy's an All BE candidate.

Agree with everything you said Bobre45.
Had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with him in early August when I took my kids to Lavin's camp.
Not only does he have talent but the kid has a fantastic work ethic. At that time he was working out three times a day, and two of the work-outs were on his own. The kid was taking 1,000 shots a day. On top of that the kid has great confidence in himself and has fantastic confidence in his abilities. He has the complete package.

North, I think most of these kids are complete or almost complete packages. These kids are Basketball players, not just kids playing basketball. They know the game and have BB IQ. That is something we have been lacking in great measure the past 7 or 8 years, for the most part.

I think Greene is underrated and Pointer will get better offensively. This team sort of reminds me of some of those Villanova teams of a few years ago, w/ a lot of long and athletic kids who are interchangeable. Another true big would be a great addtion next year, but this is a temendous nucleus.

When my buddies and I watch D'Angelo we see a young scottie reynolds, the way he attacks the rim, his streakyness and also the way he can shoot the 3.

A little less refined, but I think a solid comparison.

I agree they all have skill but DH was the one player on campus that I saw at that time that stood out with his work ethic and attitude. As I said his work ethic is fantastic. However, i can say that GG and PG have very good work ethics from what I saw, but not to the same extent as DH. In addition they do not have his self confidence, which is not a knock on either player.
Greene is underrated and I believe will be the best four year pg we have had since Mark Jackson while DP's offense will improve. He will also be a very good 4 year player for us. Unfortunately for the team Mo and Dangelo are just too good to remain on campus for 4 years.
