URI went 7-24 this season
A few years ago, some people on this board touted him for the St J job

Ahhh the coaching carousel starts a turnin'. Lav will be waiting like a shark outside of a sinking boat.
URI should look at Dunlap.
But I think they might go cheap with this hire and Dunlap makes pretty coin here.
I was one person who really liked Jim Baron and wanted him for coach of St. John's. I still think he is a very good coach. This job is an almost impossible job. If your a good player and am going to play in the State of Rhode Island, I would go to Providence, being the school is in the the Big East and not The A10. Lamar Odom when there but hedidn't want to, he at first verbally committed to UNLV before questions arose. I think Rhode Island made a mistake in firing Baron and they will find out soon. They need to go after a very good coach like Dunlap. This is bad for Jim Barons son, who will probably now transfer for the second time and hopefully the NCAA does not make him sit out another year. He would be a perfect fit for St. John's, but he would probably never go there.

All URI has coming in is Jordan Hare 6'8 210 PF out of Detroit

You're probably right, Moose
As a state school, looks like URI are strapped for cash
They will be looking for "outside" money to buy out Baron's contract
I thought I read somewhere that Dunlap might be the highest paid assistant in the country
Still might be worth taking the job (if offered) to get head coaching experience
Let's talk scraps:
Jorda Hare 6'8 210 #113 player and #32 PF was committed to them...from Detriot.

I hear what you are saying but I would think Dunlap would want a job out west closer to home.
He did a great job this year and certainly merits a good head coaching position.

Baron would have been fine choice when we hired Norm. He's good at stabilizing programs. He stabilized URI. But can't take you to that next level.
Was Billy Baron a walkon because of Dad working there? If so he should be able to transfer with no issue.
