Crowd

Interesting I had a guy sitting in front of me yesterday who knew nothing and I mean nothing at SJU. Couldnt name a player on the team. But he was rooting his ass off for SJU more than most SJU season ticket holders I've seen.
Hey Moose that was me! Thanks for the props! :) As for attendance-during Jarvis' early years we averaged about 16.5 at MSG and attendance began slowly slipping ever since. Will be tough to get those fans back (and I know a bunch of them). I think it will take winning big to cultivate new fans and to bring in the casual fans and more student support because everybody likes to be associated with a winner.

How about free tickets and food for students? How about 2 free tickets for a student's family ie siblings and parents? Many ways to get more butts in the seats. But why do stuff like that? We just went to the Final Four...30 years ago. %-)

Agree with notion that ticket prices, other NYC entertainment options, alums living out of metro area, etc. make SJU basketball a tough draw. Accepting these variables, means we have to work extra hard to put a first class, consistently successful product on the floor. We have failed to do that for a long, long time. I don't have confidence of that changing in the near future.

How about:

1) free transportation to and from games for all fans - those little vans for seniors should be available at night.
2) free tickets for everyone, with meal vouchers included
3) electronic seats to help fans get off their butts to cheer
4) microphones on each seat so our fans don't have to strain their voices to cheer
5) more urinals since older fans takes 10 minutes to pee
6) longer time outs since older fans take 20 minutes to get out of their seats and walk to the bathrooms
7) the University buying the entire state of Kentucky - I'd say $5 million gets us the whole state - so that when Calipari recruits a great player, then end up here.
8) Ginormous screens at the Garden so our fans who can't see the court can still watch the game - oh wait, that exists already
9) Pay students to attend, or even better, make attendance at games a 4 credit course "Fandom 101". Go to games, get an A. It worked for many of our players over the years, why not extend it?

I don't think I want microphones on each seat because with an older fan base comes a lot of farting and with microphones on those seats it could get ugly quick
