Watched part of Creighton's game last week with Providence and was underwhelmed by their performance. IMO, Johnnies got this one.

Nathalie " if St Johns wins you are ordering Omaha Steaks after the game "

mjmaherjr " what if we lose ? "

Nathalie " Then you are buying me dinner tonight because I'm going to have to deal with you being in bad mood all day "
Going out to eat after a loss is painful for both of us. She stopped asking.

Not sure why some posters are obsessed with the betting line, it is irrelevant once the ball goes up.

Had a conversation with MjMaher after Washington beat Oregon for the Pac 12 Championship. Oregon opened as a 9.5 favorite even though they lost to Washington during the regular season. Can anyone give me a logical reason.

Here is my theory and I mat be completely off base. Oregon lost the first game by 3 points so it is safe to assume that they have a legitimate chance to win. If Oregon started out as a 1 or 2 point favorite, I can almost guarantee that there would have been an avalanche of money bet on them. Why, Oregon's quarterback is Bo Nix, who has been hyped for greatness since he first stepped on the field for Auburn. Washington's quarterback was Michael Penix, a transfer from Indiana. To try to balance the betting, the odds makers began the line at 9.5 to encourage bets on Washington.

Vegas may also have taken Race into consideration the race situation, Nix is White and Penix is Black. All factors being equal, who would the majority of bettors be more comfortable with, probably Nix.

Personally, I don't bet on sports. It's hard enough just rooting for my team to win, so I don't need any more aggravation. Question, if St Johns is winning by a comfortable margin towards the end of the game, but only 1 point up against the spread, do you want Coach to keep the starters inor play the reserves so they can get valuable experience. Now if St Johns wins and you lose your money because of the substitutions, are you happy???
Play the reserves and get them ready for February and March. As for bettors, if you're a St. John's fan it's simple. Don't bet on their games because as we all know, "On any given night..."
