I just looked at the Yukon schedule and I think they are a borderline bubble caliber team. They’ll make it but the resume is not as strong as everyone thinks.
They have some good OOC wins plus @Marquette and Creighton. Look, I hate them, but I also want them to make the dance and make noise in the dance. Same with Marquette and Creighton (and maybe X can sneak in too, who knows). We need the league to get as many teams in the dance as possible.

I promised myself and girded myself not to get too high or too low about the outcome of today's game. It was just one game, albeit very important, in an outstanding season.

As a result, I'm not as ecstatic as I should be, even though we've waited years for a game like today.

Did any of us really know just how great a coach Rick is. Did America?

Admit it. You are higher then a Denver ncaa regional right now 😀 And if we get sent out there I have a great ladies dance place for us to go to

This was the most enjoyable game I’ve watched St. John’s play in a long long long time. Forgot what’s it felt like to feel you can beat any team in the country any day. If our shooting stays good (not even great just reliable) we are going to make a deep run.

Thank you coach Pitino. I honestly never thought I’d see this day again.

What a thrill of a game to go to.

Some of my overall thoughts:
-- Sports generational trauma is real. My dad and I are both Mets fans. I wasn't comfortable with our lead at half time, or even with six minutes left after we got the lead back up from 9. It's very funny looking back on it, because that is such a silly thought with an elite defense + coach like this.
-- Still stand by what I said early in the game. The split attendance-wise was probably 55-45 STJ to UConn. I think the team's success and everyone's interest got everyone by surprise, and fair enough. But next year, I want this to be 80-20. Hopefully season tickets double and MSG/STJ is more comfortable in holding out sections for students. Under no circumstances should we be allowing MSG to be giving out feevo discounts to UConn fans. There were also more empty seats in the 100s this game compared to other games. Probably resellers who weren't able to resale. But this game very legitimately had people packed in the 400s. Very much a sellout.
-- First time I noticed the board attempt to do crowd chants with defense and go johnnies. Happy to see.
-- Loved to watch the UConn chirper in the section over from me get quieter and quieter as the game went on. Guy looked like he was going to cry. An older UConn fan leaving had to give him a pep talk. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
-- Our team can win the national title. I find it hilarious to read opposing teams' boards still question us. But we've got two very elite closers: RJ and Kadary. We've got an elite defense. We've got elite length and speed. Depth isn't going to matter as much in March. It's wild to say this with a straight face but it's true. We're right there with that second tier group of teams.
-- Imagine someone telling you we win with those stats and in this fashion, but RJ goes 4-18. Wild, but just happened.
-- Aaron Scott not getting into foul trouble was a massive development. Kept him on the court longer than he could in other games. An all-time favorite Johnnie.
-- Sim Wilcher can be a stud next year. Never wilts under pressure, defense has become close to elite, and his mid-range is money. Just has to hit FTs and 3s more consistently, and stop with the silly fouls. Will be really important to keep him.
-- Deivon Smith is officially back. Maybe the guy I trust the most shooting 3s on the team. He does so much for our transition game.
-- If Lefty can provide us even five minutes of competent basketball, that will go a LONG way in the Big East tournament when we're playing 3-4 games back-to-back. I loved what I saw. I hope MullinsRevenge didn't combust by his conflicting rooting interests.
-- Don't underestimate Ayo's importance to this team. He led the team in a couple of huddles and their breakdowns. Glue guy. Really importnat in this era.

Looking at a top 6 or 7 ranking tomorrow, assuming the voter in South Florida stops being a crazy person. Win Wednesday, and we can all be celebrating our first Big East regular season championship on Saturday on CBS.

LFG!!!
Love your post but UConn did not have anywhere near 45% of that crowd. 20-30% tops. We drowned them out of every chant. It was red everywhere.

Friend watching at home texted me that supposedly Pitino gave a great speech during one of those "in the huddle clips" after Uconn made their "run". Anyone have that?

Couldn’t attend/watch this Live… just finished the tape… wow… what a performance. Quick takeaways:
-Dev’s passing is something else… the English he puts on his bounce passes, at the speed he’s going, to end up in the perfect spot is incredible
-I think Gus Johnson is washed… there was a play where Scott challenged a shot by going straight up, that Gus Screamed that Liam got clobbered/hacked… something like that- and then Jim Jax corrected him when they showed the replay… was funny cause he was just silent after
-if we can turn that 5min of Sim at the end of the game… and extrapolate that over his Junior year… he’ll be special

Oh they tried in the 200s, we just shut that bs down after they cut the lead ton 9pnt.

I was getting antsy, do not like hearing those f'ers.

There were a few guys in front of me in section 227 giving it to UConn fan, I was just laughing.

Was that anyone on here?
I was in Section 225 full of Pukon fans and they were quiet except for maybe twice in the game. We just stood up and yelled at every great play as they got quieter. Only noise out of them was when lead was cut to 9!

I was in Section 109 today. Lower bowl felt like entirely St. John’s fans. Overall split was prob 65-35.
200s were mostly Uconn i think but they dont show there colors or logos well. I think they re all fair weather fans afraid to show themselves until they have a spurt and then they are vocal, at least today. My first Uconn game

1000%. Most fun I’ve had in the Garden since watching St. John’s blowout Duke like 14 years ago and the “Fuck Dan Hurley” chant coming from the student section was a nice little cherry on top. Also saw Bill Murray standing at the 33rd and 8th entrance, which was unexpected.

St Johns is now a 2 seed in the tourney. If we run the table snd win the big east tourney, we will be a 1 seed.
I
I’m not getting sentimental ( We still look young ) but the reason why I’ve kept my tix through the bad times is our 114 crew and my other buddies like you from this site. Misery loves company but also today post game when our regular crew comes and Carmine and his wonderful caring wife shows up post game you know it’s an awesome day

Without you all I’d be on the first train home. Now that I’m older with you guys it’s the 3rd train home.

this was my 6 years olds first game he ever watched. We don’t get to dee many games with the time difference in London. This was a good one to get him hooked, but a bad one to set his future expectations. It feels like my dad making me a Mets, SJU and Islanders fan in the mid-80s )when I was 6.

Yep! And that's when I was really getting pissed.
Saying to myself, please don't let these bastards get any closer, then would have to hear the rats chanting alot.

We started hitting and got a bigger lead thank God.
