Connecticut (MSG), Sun., Feb. 23, 12 Noon, FOX

My son goes to Maryland. They use a point system based on how many games you go to and have a deadline to claim tickets. Everything is done online so you don't have any confrontations at a ticket window. Once the student allotment is gone you can buy discounted tickets depending on the game. So obviously getting student tickets against Maryland Eastern Shore are easy to get but not as easy against Michigan State. They check student id's so it's difficult to sell your ticket. Like DK said students are the life of a program and lead to alumni engagement down the road. This is all new at St. Johns and playing at an arena not owned by the school is confusing. I think they are doing the best they can right now as this is so unexpected.

A lot has to happen for most teams to make it to the FF, but we have seen very often implausible runs occur where teams get there. I do not think it would be implausible for us to do that if it were to happen, but again, a lot of things go into the mix; matchups; upsets; playing at peak perormance; lucky bounces ...

I just hope initially to make it to the second weekend, and take it form there. But, if we play the D we can, and sustain consistently better offense, anything is possible for this team.

I see some tickets in student section in Stubhub. It's GA but if the school can track them down, they should be banned for future games.

Hopefully MSG and St. John's is now working closer together than ever. Don't think it should be difficult to have people scanning the ticket and then scanning their stormcard or something on their phone confirming their a student.

It'd be great if next year there's a similar thing with student allotments. I wouldn't feel bad if I had to miss a couple games at MSG if it meant students packed it.

I only hope that the small band of students who have loyally come to games going as far back as CMAs last 2 years are being taken care of.

Spoiled entitled generation of kids who whine and get everything they want from asshole parents (us.)

I'd have tons of sympathy if they showed up from day 1 and are now being squeezed. Honestly, they deserve nothing. Right now at home games, both endzones are filled with our students. Just a few games ago the end zone on the side of our bench was 3/4 empty.

Schools with tech savvy put tickets on the school issued student debit card and give kids point for attending low demand games and sports. For big games vs a Duke, for example, kids with the most points get tix in priority order.

Kull should implement this but pretty certain coming from Fordham has no experience with it. Maybe our partners can help.

End of story. Good problem to have. No sympathy for those "suddenly passionate" student fans. Of course there's always stubhub.
Geez your last paragraph is rough. The only reason the attendance figures are so good is because of “suddenly passionate” fans from the students to the regular ones. We never had enough non-suddenly passionate fans to do it otherwise.

Besides, if you are a freshman or sophomore at SJU, and you are into the program, why would that make you a suddenly passionate student fan?

I think it may be better to ease up on singling out fans who have recently jumped on the bandwagon. We are all on the same team. They still pay for tickets, wear SJU shirts, and can bring in other fans in the future.

It will be interesting to see how St. John’s handles this situation in the upcoming years. Most schools with a point system include a fee for season tickets within tuition for all incoming students. This money usually goes to the athletic programs. To my knowledge St. John’s does not do this yet.

Yes at Maryland the Athletic Fee is $199.50 a semester. The football team doesn’t draw well so you can always get a ticket. Most basketball games you can as well but they are having a really good season so its been a little harder.
