Congrats Rafael Pinzon

I found the game on youtube.  Pinzon is a high IQ player and can really pass the ball.

But there is not much u can take from this as its horrible basketball.  None of these kids would be on a D2 floor let alone the big east.
Give em a break!  Not everyone is as great as Earlington is!

GRUPO B

IRÁN 81-68 PUERTO RICO

IRN:
Piter Girgoorian 24pts(5/10trip)
Sorena Goorandani 14pts
Nosratollah Yazarloo 10pts

PUR:
Rafael Pinzón 19pts, 5 assists & 5 rebounds
Gonna have to factor him into the minutes distribution--like the 5 assists
When I watched his high school games he ran the point and now on the international team he is running the point.  Im not sure where the narrative that he is not a pg is coming from.  IMO he is only a pg.  He passes the ball very well.. Good vision.

He has gotten better this year and healthier.  He did not play the point as a junior at LuHi, Andre Curbelo did.  Might of played some in the three games they played this year.

I don't recall him playing much at the point this year.

We shall see.

The Puerto Rico game I saw he definitely looked good enough to be a backup point guard.

That said, we'd be screwed if Posh gets injured. But I'm confident Pinzon can play back there in short spurts, especially with the guys we'll have surrounding him.

Getting minutes at PG can only help him (and us) in the future, when I envision three smooth ball handlers with nice court vision in the game at the same time.

think Canada has a solid team- should be a good litmus test to see what he's got... our friend Samuel of Seton Hall is part of the squad as well as Primo from Bama.

For those that wanted to see a preview of Pinzon vs BE comp.... this is as good a preview as any.

looks like it will a tough one for PR today... as expected. Tough start for Raf... missed a couple pull up/fade-away mid range Js as well as a wide open layup.

Good news- his handle looks respectable against some solid D, - for what he will probably be asked to contribute (

last comment- still excited about Pinzon..... but #4 on Canada... Elijah Fischer...wow

He seems to follow his shot and has quick hands poking at the ball. Staff definitely has something they can work with regarding our defensive strategy.

Real nice drive and finish attempt in traffic that just didn’t drop. Nice pass to open guy on the baseline to probably finish his night. Down big and just got taken out.

Im really excited about Pinzon but I said before if he gives us what Wusu was able to give us, from an overall perspective, I think we should be ecstatic. I expect him to be a little less than that, but do think CMA will give him every chance to prove he can play and perhaps steal minutes from the 3 transfer guards as the year goes on. Probably starts as backup at the point and he’s definitely a playmaker with a real feel. Might still be more of a point forward early in college career though imo. Doesn’t really matter, he’ll have the ball in his hands regardless.

My bet is it’s another local hit for CMA.
