Concordia exhibition 11/6

And we haven't seen Sanchez or Bourgault yet

Add Branch to that list, as well.

By the way, I think Jones is a balla.

Mea culpa
In all my excitement, I forgot about Branch
For a last minute "find", Jones looks like he will be a contributor right away
Kinda reminds me a bit of a young Mel Davis type of player (Tarik said Jones reminds him of a bigger Glover)
That's because I'm a lot older than Tarik ^5

Ugggh! I was kinda expecting it.

The NCAA is a bunch of shmucks. It's not fair at all...this is all their fault for taking so damn long. Is there a way to appeal because they dragged their feet and now it will negatively impact our season?

More stats from tonight's game:

22 assists on 38 baskets
5 double figure scorers (Jones 17, Sampson and Garrett 15 each, Obekpa 13 and Pointer 12)
2 double-doubles (Jones 17 & 10, Obekpa 13 & 14 with 7 blocks)

Ugggh! I was kinda expecting it.

Again, I don't understand this situation
From what I've read, this isn't an issue of eligibility, but an issue of classification
If that's so, why aren't these guys playing now?
I would think that, regardless of class they are ultimately placed in, neither would be a candidate to be redshirted
Especially, the 24 year old Sanchez!!

That's what I thought too. Now it makes me think they may not be eligible at all.

Unfortunately, all we can do is wait it out.

I was saying the same thing.... If it's only a classification issue, then they should be able to play while their classification is being looked at during the season. At least, that is how I view it.

I'm optimistic about it being resolved in our favor (one way or another), but there is also a side of me that is concerned about it. Remember, we're talking about the NCAA here. Some of their rulings seems subjective.

This may be a minor thing, but I just saw Harrison smiling on the bench when Jones came out and Harrison greeted him. It might be a stretch to think this, but hopefully that means that Harrison is good spot mentally. Showing that he is not pouting because he's happy for teammate.

He was fine. He was smiling and warming up. Talking to Keady and Rico during the game and laughing.

I hope we get both back and in short order. I don't expect we'll lose them both, even if something came up. The problem is that we are still holding Gift and Balamou out for this, effectively losing 4 guys, not just 1 or 2. Interesting to see what transpires, but I'd prefer a bit less interesting at this point. We need to bet Detroit and other early season games that can weigh pretty big down the line.

I don't want to burst the collective bubble, but I am worried after what I saw tonight. The team was sloppy and Concordia was awful. They were so bad they didn't give this team a look. I think more bad than good comes from games like these.

Detriot will be a rude awakening and STJ will have to ride the trio of Harrison-Greene-Garrett to pull it out by the skin of its teeth.

The Bourgault/Sanchez news is so disheartening. Two players like that change the makeup of this team. Screw the NCAA.

If tonight was sloppy what was the other night. The other night was sloppy. Tonight wasn't sloppy. Were they coasting? Yes absolutely. You really gain nothing from games like this.

Concordia looked like a high school team.

Obekpa once again a force. Not just blocked shots but the number of attempts he changed the direction of.

Jones is an impressive athlete. How did he slip between the cracks?

I only witnessed the second half of tonight's game, and I didn't see sloppy either. Not to mention, I don't know enough about Detroit to feel we'll be in for a "rude awakening" or not. I know what they are bringing back (McCallum, Anderson, and Minnerath), but not sure about their newcomers.

Regardless, as Moose stated, you really do not gain anything from these games. Looking forward to Detroit.

I think the team did well. They crushed a team they should have crushed. Everyone played well except Greene, but I know he will be fine for the season. Detroit will be a tough test...they basically dominated us last year. We really need D'Lo to be on his A game if we have a good chance to win. I will feel so much better if D'Lo comes around, and Sanchez and Marco get cleared before the 2nd game.

Greene had 7 assists and 0 turnovers. Not as good a shooting game as Saturday, but I thought he was fine overall. For the most part, good decisions from him.

This staff was not lying about Christian Jones. What an athlete. He and Sampson can really jump out of the gym, and the mistakes they have made have been mistakes of aggresion, not of effort.

Sampson plays very hard on D. Not really smart yet, but that will come, I think.

Overall, team does not appear ready for Detriot, but that doesn't mean we won't win. In fact, with Obekpa anchoring the middle on defense, I believe we can beat most teams, as long as they are not hot from 3-point land.

We will certainly go through growing pains which is why I don't think we will tear through the beginning of our schedule like many seem to. I think we will win the majority of them, but have our share of hiccups. Once D'Lo gets back to being D'Lo, and we get Sanchez/Marco/Branch, we will see what this team is really made of.
