College Basketball Season

Who's feigning? ;)
I agree! You never do. We feel for you and want to help you.

BTW. I suspect within a few weeks our public officials who have all taken a knee apologizing for the death of George Floyd will be on their knees again apologizing for their utter ignorance and disregard for the deaths of mostly senior citizens due to Covid. Now W.H.O. states that all that Cuomo and fellow Democrats had to do was target only symptomatic cases instead chasing their tails and crashing the economy. Thank God Trump cut funding these QUACKS.
Looks like the college basketball season will be on schedule. Open up the university. Open up the country!
Very Bad News for Democrats.
No more hiding in bunkers and in mansion overlooking the Pacific.

WHO: Asymptomatic spread of coronavirus appears to be 'very rare'

72 ,If you read what the WHO put out it doesn’t exactly say that. There’s a difference between pre-symptomatic and Asymptomatic people. People who have contracted the virus and are Asymptomatic for a few days before they actually start showing symptoms are very contagious even at the point when they are not yet showing symptoms, when they are pre-symptomatic. A person who contracts the virus but never shows symptoms and is Asymptomatic through the entire time they have the virus, those are the people the WHO is referring to. It is very rare for someone who is Asymptomatic the entire time they have the virus to spread the virus. But, people who are pre-symptomatic for a few days and eventually show symptoms are still very contagious even when they are not showing symptoms. That’s what the WHO said if you read what they put out. That Dr. Van Der Khoven or whatever her name is did a very poor job of explaining it. She needs to be much more efficient when explaining such important information to the entire world.

There would be a lot less confusion if we had a real leader. President Bone-Spur is busy trying to front like he's not scared of the virus while people are dying due to a lack of any country-wide policies and any communication based on facts and science. People with real scientific expertise are being silenced because Cheeto Mussolini doesn't like reality. He thought this job would be like The Apprentice but he didn't realize that there's a difference between being the boss of your own company vs the leader of a democracy. Some accountability and humility would help us in eradicating COVID and returning to life as we know it...and, of course, some HOOPS!

I think Trump did a good job. I like the way we are gradually reopening. That said, Ill agree Trump has a big mouth. There was no road map to follow and the experts didnt agree and knew little about the virus, plus China wasnt truthful,so of course there was going to be some confusion.

We can't rely on China to be truthful. Whoever believes China is an honest actor...I have a bridge to sell you. Let's go back to when America was the foremost authority and on most things and didn't need assistance from communists. MAGA

If you hate Trump, nothing he does is acceptable.
If you love Obama, nothing he did was wrong.

Nope. I think we, as mostly college-educated people, can be more nuanced than that. When he does something good I applaud it. However, I admit, I usually won't jump the gun and praise him because the very next day he'll do something crazy. There were plenty of things Obama did that I didn't like (eg. military tactics), but overall he was a much better leader because he didn't make the presidency about himself.
I really thought that many on this board would have been incensed by the recent use of the Bible as a prop by such an unholy man...guess I was wrong.
The bidding on my bridge will be starting at $1

How did a thread entitled "College Basketball Season" evolve into a discussion of the merits of Trump vs Obama?

Don't see how it makes sense to have unpaid college athletes playing a regular season when the school year is over
If you are worried about unpaid college athletes, just have a tournament with these schools: Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, LSU, Oregon, Arizona, UConn, Syracuse, and Ohio St.
Who would watch??

"unpaid" matters because if its unsafe for regular students to be on campus due to health concerns, how do you justify having athletes there? if they were paid workers, ok....but as unpaid college student/athletes there has to be enormous potential liability to the University.

Not hard to figure who yanked this thread in that direction...Just go back to page 1.

With ease unfortunately

My apologies for adding to the disconnect.

This is the last time I try to be funny here. Once again you have crushed my thoughful sarcasm. But I am going to explain myself anyway.

You mentioned "unpaid college athletes," and here is where my keen sense of satirical wit came in: I rattled off a bunch of schools that -- and is not a stretch to conclude -- find ways to compensate its athletes (i.e. pay them).

Those guys would be 1099 self employed contractors with no benefits. ;)
(Sorry for missing the joke again.)

In all seriousness though, even those guys getting "extra benefits" could sue the school if they got sick and passed it on to their family. Don't see how any school can handle that risk/exposure.

Although NCAA announced summer workouts can begin July 20, still uncertain if St. John's will be able to do so. Depends on government allowing school to open. Seton Hall is planning to have workouts starting July 20. #sjubb #shbb

Phase 4 includes reopening of schools, and that is scheduled in NYC barring setbacks around July 20, so would seem like a good shot of happening. #sjubb

There is a spoof Horse Race making the rounds on Facebook and other sites that Is hilarious . I wish I had the technical expertise to post it here . There are like 12 horses running , all named after Words or people or Phrases that have become common place with the Virus . One horse is Wuhan Virus , Another is Dr Fauci , etc . You get the drift .. Anyway they have a guy who sounds just like a Track Announcer doing the Race . It’s hilarious ! I won’t give away the final results but , you can catch the Race yourself by googling or other search sites . On another topic , is DeBlasio still using the Police to pull people out of the Water at Coney Island and having them arrested ? If they were arrested did they get released as quickly as the looters , Rioters and Arsonists ? Or , are the poor Beachgoers locked up at empty Rikers Island ? Asking for a beach going friend .
