He wanted to transfer to St. John's and wrote to Coach Lapchick asking if he would take him.

Coach Lapchick told him that he went to college to get an education and that Holy Cross was a good school and that he was playing for a good coach and that he should stick it out.

And, as they say, the rest is history.

Great story and coach Lapchick was right at the tme. College of the Holy Cross is one of the 3 Catholic Ivies imo along with ND and Georgetown.

And that's why hiring a great former player as coach is tough -- it sucks to see one of your favorites fired.
