I didn't realize they were so good as well. Give her a higher-level job too!Women’s coach with 27-0 record?
If enough heavy hitters say no I can see more in-tune boosters at Indiana wanting him.Every AD that keeps passing on Ben McCollum is going to regret it.
I guess being on an expiring deal doesn't matter as much in this current landscape with one year deals. But seems like they're clearly trying to avoid paying for the buyout by leaking that if he wants to come back, he's not getting any additional money to his contract. Still would be bizarre.
Mike Repole also wanted Bobby H.I still don't understand allowing a coach to be a lame duck.
Btw Mike Cragg and SJU are partially responsible since SJU's pursuit in 2019 of Hurley forced ASU to give hima raise and extension...
As DK said, being a lame duck doesn't affect much in today's landscape with the portal and being able to build a competitive roster immediately.I still don't understand allowing a coach to be a lame duck.

If you're ASU and you don't want to pay Hurley's buyout to get rid of him this year, why sign him to an extension now that would force you to pay him a buyout if you want to get rid of him after next year? Instead, you could either sign him to an extension next year if you want to keep him, or let him go for free if you don't. The only risk is if he has a good enough season to become a hot commodity for other jobs next year which is unlikely and also something ASU would be comfortable with.
I'd expect this to become more common going forward.
