Agree and my fear would be that Rick wouldn’t want to do anything to prevent his son from getting a good job. Not saying he would give it up right away if Richard were to take Nova.I am of the thinking that father and son do not want to coach against each other at least twice a year.
I'm thinking the other BE conference coaches wouldn't be thrilled at having a father-son coaching duo who can share notes and intel on the other teams. Didn't Richard say that he spoke to Rick about 10 times before the UNM Marquette game?I am of the thinking that father and son do not want to coach against each other at least twice a year.
I cannot see Richard in the Big East while Rick is here.
I also think Nova would be nuts not to hire Willard if it can but I know that is a minority opinion around here.
The man can be difficult, sure. But he also isn't wrong about what is needed to compete these days and he is a zero risk, proven commodity as a coach.
As DK said, if he's still out there when Rick hangs it up, I would be happy to have him here.
And again, yes, I know, people hate him. But hey, I can relate to that!
No clue on this guy but here;

I think he stays at Md.If Willard keeps winning is he really gonna leave? I know regardless if he had lost in round 1 or end up losing in the final four, it’s the same program. But I’ve gotta think it matters a bit towards this decision.
Im not hung up on pitino jr as successor, but a Xavier to SJU jump would seem possible.Trilly reported Richard interviewed at Xavier today and that Xavier is doing their due diligence.
If Richard isn't formally announced to Villanova by the end of the day feel like we have to assume it's Willard there
He wants a lot more resources. I get adjacent Shaka vibes in that he's sick of football-centric schoolIf Willard keeps winning is he really gonna leave? I think Jr going to VCU would be a more logical stepping stone. He's almost guaranteed to win there and SJU is undoubtedly still a step upIm not hung up on pitino jr as successor, but a Xavier to SJU jump would seem possible.
Yeah I hear you but Maryland is capable of supplying those resources and with a new AD plus this run maybe he gets it. Shaka was getting close to run out the year he left.He wants a lot more resources. I get adjacent Shaka vibes in that he's sick of football-centric school
Having lived in that area for 30 years, UMD locally is considered a BB and Lacrosse school, rather then football, since they have been a non factor for so long.He wants a lot more resources. I get adjacent Shaka vibes in that he's sick of football-centric school
So unlikable though.This whole episode also makes me think Willard is extremely attainable after Rick's gone. He would be a great successor, after the big headline names.
