Don't mean to stay off topic, but have to mention Anthony Glover when talking about undersized PFs with huge hearts. He was ranked somewhere in the top 20 coming out of Rice. I think as high as 12 in some rankings. Always felt that ranking was to high simply because of his size, but boy was he a tough competitor in spite of his size and oftentimes while being overmatched by much larger PFs.

Good call Monte. He had a ton of heart, and I'd have him escort me on the subway at any time of night on any line. :)

Who was the kid who transferred to Duke, and got more there than he did at SJU?

Thanks Beast, yeah Glover was a rock. Also always had that "don't F with me" sneer on his face. Kid was Roshown McLeod. Boy did BM botch that one. Pretty sure he got drafted and had a cup of coffee in NBA.

at around 6'4" ? he mostly played Center for us. My favorite moment was him fighting for a loose ball and literally lifting up Jake Voskul (who was a half a foot taller and not slight of frame), and throwing him around like a ragdoll. If I recall correctly, Glover started his pro career playing in Korea.

Glover was also part of perhaps the best Riverside Church team ever, along with Artest, Jessie, Elton Brand and Barkley. Not shabby! We got our fair share of RC kids through the years, including Ty Grant.

Listed at 6'5" if I recall, but definitely more like 6'4". Yes he did also play center for us. Had no idea Korea even had a pro league.

With my background I say it was in the "demilitarized" zone

They "hack" a lot there.

McLeod left because Mahoney was playing Charles Minlend over him. As much as I loved Charles Minlend as player because of his heart, McLeod was an NBA talent and in no way should have had to sit behind Minlend.

And when they send out the dogs, they really send out the dogs.

I hate to say it, but Jones reminds me a lot of a chiseled Ed Brown - probably blessed with some natural talent, but as soft as a bowl of Cool Whip.

Brown only appeared to be marginally better when he transferred to Rhode Island, but had the same disinterested , vanilla approach even against lesser talent.

Go back and look at his HS tape, he was very athletic for his size. Even his freshman season he looked athletic. Then the staff encouraged him to put on muscle and it just seems like everything changed. Physically, emotionally, and energetically

Kind of a shame
