C 7 shines today

Although I am in somewhat of agreement with Newsman regarding the new league with their dollar commitment today was glory. Villanova had its second straight win over top 5 teams and Gtown just beat Louisville for their third straight loss since being number one. The C7 teams have lagged behind the private and state schools in this league for years with a questionable dedication in terms of money and effort. Nationwide no fans look with fear at the C7 teams but this has to change for the league to become a force. Maybe this is the beginning.

No better time for that to start than this year when we are all heading towards a breakup. Love to see a top 4 of Marquette, SJU, Georgetown and Nova... It's not out of the question.

I really believe if this is done right and we add the proper schools to our C7, it could be one of the top conferences in the country, easily.

Anyone see the ESPN NCAABB page recently? They are all over the Big Ten and ACC schools...even the Pac 12 or whatever they are called these days. But no major headline of Nova beating 2 top 5 teams in the SAME WEEK! How is that possible? They are all over NC State who is almost out of the top 25 and playing terrible. UCLA is not even ranked in an awful Pac 12 who would only have 1 ranked team right now if it wasn't for Oregon playing way over its head. It just seems they shun the basketball only schools in the Big East even when they make big noise.

Top two stories are gown and nova... but there are six teams with a 4-3 record. This season has a long way to go

DePaul not shining today vs Pitt. They're down 25 before the half. They need to move on from Purnell and hire somebody who vpcan really recruit Chicago and the Midwest.

They have a solid Chicago player coming in next year.

They will suffer the same fate as us sometimes. Kids don't want to stay home.

Ya know.. I'm not down on the C7 at all and never have been. We'll cover NY, Phlliy, Chicago, DC, Milwaukee, and Providence, and Newark (for you Larry Johnson fans - points if anyone knows the reference).

I think that the top 4 teams can be perennial bids, and thats not bad start for a conference. Screw the multisport money schools.. This can and will be a major conference.

Agreed as is evident that our top talent has little to do with NYC.
JS-Ohio
DP-Michigan
AG- California
DH-Texas
JB-Texas
PG-Illinois
CO and GG-Nigeria

Lavin understands only too well the value of the dorms and NYC and will make a living out of grabbing top talent from other parts.

Agree. At minimum your looking at 4 bids a year likely. Could always get more depending on how teams play.

Never said it has to be all Chicago talent, but DePaul can't get out of the basement in this league. Is it coaching or recruiting? I think it's mostly recruiting. Midwest will still be their bread and butter. Marquette is able to put talent on the court as well as good coaching. Lavin has the right idea recruiting from all over but still focusing on ny kids he sees as priorities. Not sold Purnell can do it.

Yep. STJ has a chance to be alone in 3rd in the conference with a win tomorrow.

Though I'm sure he'd understand the value of the stipend as well and even more so if FH gave him permission to use it. ;)

When I said main headlines, I didn't mean the text only in the right side of the screen in the NCAAM section. I meant those BIG front page stories with big pictures. Those are the top stories IMO, not 9 point font in the upper right hand corner. They should be front and center after what they did. They are all over ACC/Big Ten/Pac 12. Like I said...the Pac 12 would have ONE ranked team right now if it wasn't for Oregon coming out of nowhere! Kinda crazy IMO to give them more coverage than a team who just won back to back top 5 games unranked.

As someone who has worked in the industry with data to back it up. The top headlines area usually garners more eyeballs. Most users dont have the time or energy to click thru the main carousel.

Interesting...I do just the opposite lol...I look at the pictures and big font first and tiny headlines last. It's much more monotonous to read 10 lines of 9 pt font of plain text than look at a few big pictures with accompanying headlines of like 20 pt font.

Trust me a lot of money is spent on making sites look all nice and slick with those big carousels. But the data continues to show the headlines area is equally if not more powerful. That being said if your site doesn't have that carousel you are perceived to be behind the times. Cost of doing business.

Assuming nothing's changed, Chicago's coaches/AAU guys are known for being super shady. I think you have to pay to win if you are DePaul, and I'm not sure they have the cash to do it.
