The ACC must be loaded, their champion lost to Cincinnati LOL. Then again, Cincinnati beat Syracuse in the Big East Tournament as well, sounds like Syracuse will fit right in.

To make this even greater my alma mater is going to the Frozen Four! Was at that game so didn't get to see Cuse go down but very happy to see the result.

Union? My wife's second cousin Matt Hatch is a winger on their top line.

To quote Howard Cosell: DOWN GOES FRAZIER! DOWN GOES FRAZIER!

:ngrin: :ngrin: :ngrin: :ngrin: :ngrin: :ngrin: :ngrin:

What are a Jerk you are putting smoking joe in the corruptt Dirty orange co. Joe Frazier was a great heavywt champion beating undefeated bigmouth draft dgdger Clay/Ali had a career of being a Highly classy american who won a gold medal too but never got the respect he truly deserved by the retards in philly who honored Rocky/stallone w a statute instead of Smokin Joe

Losing to Foreman was no disgrace slugger vs slugger both champions

HBO sports did a great documentary on Frazier/Ali. Frazier, after all those years still privately hated Ali, and would gloat to those around him whenever Ali appeared in public, unable to speak beyond a whisper and body afflicted with Parkinson tremors. He'd glance at the screen and boast, "See that. I did that to him."

Check listings, its a great documentary, and may be repeated again.

I saw it with hbo on demand
The facts are Ali disrespected Joe in the worse way calling him a uncle tom when Joe worked cotton fields in S.carl.
as a young boy, Joe gave Ali alot of $$ when bigmouth lost his boxing license to feed his family.
The he calls joe a gorilla  Joe had ali beat in manilla but his good seeing eye was closed & eddie futch knew
he was legally blind in the other eye & stopped it when ali was quitting in his corner screaming "im dying cut off my gloves" Joe wanted to continue bec, his rage would not quit.
If i was his trainor I would not have stopped it

Yes, Union, that is funny. He came in the year after I graduated but I knew a bunch of friends of his who I played with at other points in time. He is a very good player, the line he plays on is very fast and skilled, then again, so are all 4 lines they roll. Was at the East Regional last line since it was very accessible to get to Bridgeport, which btw is a great facility and did a great job running the tournament. Very well organized. It is nice to have one of my teams in a final four for now. Hoping the Johnies add to that soon.

Mike is a SU fan so we should expect this. We had NCAA sanctions (something Syracuse will be dealing with soon) and bad recruiting and coaching the last 10 years. Syracuse has probably had more talent than any other program in history since the 1980s and just one title to show for it. Can you imagine the number of championships Syracuse would have if Coach K, Calhoun or Bob Knight had been coaching them instead of Jimmy B? Mike you guys have had a great run, clearly you've had the better program recently, but accept the loss and take it like a man, also enjoy the move to Hick Land, AKA the ACC.

We will see about those sanctions, I don't think they are going to be that bad, considering we reported the failed drug tests to the ncaa. You make it seem like syracuse has 3 or 4 mcdonalds all americans ever year. Our recruiting has picked up over the past few years, and we have had two 30 wins seasons. If arinze doesn't get hurt in 2010, and if fab melo went to class, who knows what would have happened. There was a period a few years ago when recruiting hit a snag, and we were bringing in guys like josh wright, and terrance roberts. The future is very bright.

Good point, because bc and syracuse just have so much in common in terms of basketball.

The future is very bright?
Do you live in Syracuse?
There is nothing bright about that dump, past, present or future.

Well at least you can visit Camden.

I'm sorry Mike but there is no way you can say that since the 80's until now that Syracuse hasn't had loads of talent as far as recruiting goes. You can't have it both ways, you can't compare the last 10 years and make a comment about St. John's without accepting the fact that you have done less with more. You are in dreamland if you think that the talent level at Syracuse has not been stellar. It has been much better than most Big East programs let alone programs in the country. I don't know the exact numbers but I am willing to bet Syracuse has had more guys drafted in the NBA during that stretch than St. John's (Carmelo, Johnny Flynn, Wesley Johnson, Jason Hart, John Wallace, Hakim Warrick, Etan Thomas, Billy Owens, Demetrius Nichols, Donte Greene, etc and I am not even mentioning guys like Coleman, Seikaly, the Pearl, Moten, Sherman Douglas). Please, you've had plenty of talent and them some over the years. Don't blame us because you haven't been able to win except once.  FYI, self reporting to the NCAA doesn't get you off the hook.

In 2004, after Boston College, VaTeck, and UMiami abandoned the Big East for the ACC, former SU Athletic Director Jake Crothemal convinced the remaining Big East schools to not schedule those 3 schools as a way of isolating them from the east coast media and recruits.

Jake Crothemal was a good and shrewd businessman. Jake's strategy has helped render BC, VaTeck, and UMiami irrelevant in athletics since they bolted the Big East.

I hope that the Athletic Directors at Yukon, St.John's, Villanova, Georgetown, Notre Dame et al follow Jake Crothemal's advice and refuse to schedule Syracuse University in all sports.

Yes syracuse has had more talent than most big east schools, and they won more than most schools. If you want to take it by a case by case basis.

Coleman, seikaly, and douglass came a point away from winning a title. Thompson, owens, douglass, and coleman lost in an elite 8. John wallace went to a national title game, and ran into one of the best college teams of all time. Jason harts group ran into a great michigan st team in the sweet 16, flynn's group ran into blake griffen in the sweet 16. If arinze didn't get hurt, who knows how far wes johnson's team goes.

Syracuse hit a snag in recruiting from 2004-2009, where we weren't getting all too many high end recruits. Right now we are killing it in recruiting, and the results are showing. Winning a national title isn't easy, you can have a good season and still fall short of a nc.
