Big key is Mullin working with Yawke and Sima when his hand is better on three throws. These guys need to be respectable next year.

Agree. They could be an extremely formidable one-two punch up front, especially on the defense end. Yakwe, because of his quickness and unorthodox lefty moves, will get fouled a ton. He has got to get that FT % up in to the 60% + range. He doesn't have a bad stroke, and with some tweaking by our lefty FT shooting expert coach he should be able to get there.

Yakwe's trajectory is much too high, needs to soften shot from the line. I'm still waiting for Ellison to make two foul shots in a row. Obviously he's not a shooter but when slashing to the basket has to finish better.

We knew this year was going to be like this. Factor in the loss of Sima, to even play somewhat competitive is really all you can ask for from these guys. Team needs some rest and hopefully will get some this week and show up with more intensity next game. Legs are tired, shots not going in. Aside from Depaul, any other win will be unexpected.

Is that depaul this season or next season?

DePaul next season should be a sweep.
After that, it's gonna be a bitch.
Marquette likely finishes 8th and if Elleson returns, leapfrogging anyone will be difficult.
Very young roster next season, similar
to Marquette's this season, and look how difficult it's been for them.

People who look at us as "loaded" next year should realize our BE opponents usually improve as well. In this tough league, I think we will win about sixteen games in total, give or take a few, show improvement & contend for a NCAA bid in year three of this rebuild. If they do better next year, that is gravy to me.

Depending on how roster fills out, we should be very talented but still young. Other teams will improve, but we have way more upside than other teams. I think your projection of 16 Ws is very realistic. I'm still hoping for 18-20.

Let's remember Mullin and his staff will have a year of game experience. He's smart enough to learn from his mistakes this year.

Agreed, you don't go from a team losing 9 games in a row to an NCAA contender in 1 year (unless you use the Blue Chips strategy). The team will have more talent on its roster, but it's not like they are bringing in a Kentucky or Duke esque class.

That being said, I'm hoping that they can maybe hit 17 wins in total. I really feel that with another year of experience, Sima & Yakwe is going to be one hell of a front court. Add in a veteran player like Bashir and they should see a lot of improvement in that area. Plus, the fact that the team will actually have a PG next year will tack on a few more wins to the season.

I don't have any idea how much we will improve next year but one huge X factor IMO is how much Yakwe improves. I would not be surprised if he comes back next season as a very difficult matchup for any team. We shall see........,

Malik E. needs a lot of work.

Needs major work on his shooting form...it limits trajectory of his shot and as a result he is short on most -- including free throws

Jeesh! How the hell did a three point deficit go to 14 in just about three minutes?

Because our seniors dont sense when we need to work for a good shot and our coaches dont seem to call timeouts early enough

This just got Susan Boyle ugly
Expect lots of scorer's table time in the second half. mjm, why don't you put some thumb tacts on the scorer's table saturday night at MSG. That ought to cure Chris' s habit of sitting on it. :)
did anyone notice Mullin dribbling the ball between his legs before handing it back to ref...LOL

Agree & would love to see Yakwe & Sima attend a credible summer camp for interior players to refine their offensive skills. There's a ton of potential for those two & both seem eager to learn.

Yes !!! I did see that too...pretty sure he had the Perrier in the other hand. It went to TV timeout so I just laughed.

Haven't seen any post game quotes from this game.

Agree but I think Yakwe has a chance to be more than just an interior player.

Could be down the road, but they will need him at PF next year with Ahmed getting ton of the SF minutes I would guess.

Yakwe and Ellison both need to get their free throw percentage up over 70 percent, otherwise teams will just sit back and let them shoot jump shots and foul them if they get to.the rim. Right now, fouling Yakwe is as good as a turnover.

He could practice opposite low post moves now which will help him big time Also let him put on a few lbs now Keep working on his cardio

Like the Mullin summer camp at the Island Garden? :)

Not talking about position as much as how he will play. I just think Yakwe shows the potential to develop into a player who can play in space or down low. Purely speculation right now and a lot of work to be done to possibly get there.
