Bryan Trimble

I like Bryan a lot, and hope he sticks around all 4 years. IMO he can grow in to a nice role player as a spot up shooter coming off the bench. Like others on the team, he was asked to do more than he was capable of. And when kids are asked to do much more than their ability and size allow, its going to have an adverse effect on their overall game. Here’s hoping he stays, and the staff finds right role for him.

Bryan is very close to Clark and Simon, rooming together I believe. If Simon exercises grad transfer option closer to home, I would not be surprised to see Trimble move on. I thought he was a decent role player and two more years here would be beneficial to him and SJU.

I would prefer all criticisms of our players be on our board than in the stands at a game. Trimble tries hard every time he is in the game. I have never seen him dog it when on the court. He is what he is. It's up to the coaches to play him in situations where he can be useful. A bigger bench would help.

Chudney Gray comes to mind from some excellent redmen teams - 4 year sub more valuable each year. Why do we always feel the need to speculate about why kids might leave? Lack of continuity is a major problem for our team the last few years.
Do you understand how much times have changed in 20+ years? We're in the instant gratification era with kids.

Tough enough to get commitments to play here, but now we have to worry about re-recruiting players that are already in the program.

Funny because and asst coach at another school told me that their biggest job now is to re recruit the guys that are on the team. The transfer market is crazy, it's happening all over.

And some people actually think we should do away with the 1 year sit old rule. That would make it insane.
. . . but if you think he's a Big East caliber player in any role whatsoever you are out of your mind. No offense to him, but he should be playing at a low D1 school at best.
What type of kids are supposed to be on a bench then, especially at a school like St. John's?

Bryan Trimble with the addition of a one dribble left or one dribble right resquare up and shoot move, becomes much more dangerous on offense and coupled with his willingness to give up his body on D is a strong bench asset.

I just don't understand how anyone would think a guy who takes only 3 point shots literally and is not a reliable shooter can be considered an asset to any good program, out of position or not

What I can’t understand is why he only takes 3 point shots and not higher percentage shots.

I thought Trimble always gave max effort this year and he didn’t bad down from being stuck switching on guys 6 inches taller.

Trimble is a good depth guy. He should be an 8th or 9th guy off the bench on a solid team. The funny thing is he is super athletic & can get to the rim with his wide frame. He just doesn't have the instincts during in game situations to execute.

UMKC is going to appreciate him more than a lot of St. John's fans ever did.

Maybe he would improve in time. But, at present, you can’t even call him a streaky shooter

The previous season when we had yakwe and amar in at the same time, we lost a ton offensively. This year Trimble and any other sub on the floor at the same time and we were challenged offensively

Maybe a streaky non-shooter?

This year Trimble and any other sub on the floor at the same time and we were challenged offensively
. It’s tough to discredit Trimble in my opinion . Sure , he gets only limited minutes and is in there for somebody usually in foul trouble. I.e . Clark mainly . He’s at a height and quickness disadvantage as soon as he takes his warm up jacket off . But , he did show , as Rafftery says , Onions on more than 1 occasion .,On offense this year , he didn’t see the ball much as last year and didn’t hit as many 3’s . He does require getting the Ball in perfect position and getting into a set position to shoot . He didn’t score as much this year either . To his credit , he puts out 100 percent whenever he is in there . Not playing much , he is tentative with passing the ball and had more than a few turnovers . But , in the right situation , game by game , he can get hot and hit a few . I hope he stays . On a added note, I think we could have used Mikey Dixon , in more than a few games . He could shoot reasonably well and despite whatever defensive faults he had , could have helped us . Have no idea what caused a rather sudden decision to transfer out . It did hurt us depth wise .

Slyfox I mean no disrespect I’m just genuinely curious. Why do you always add a space before your periods and commas, or maybe my laptop is just messing with my eyes

I do have a slight vision impairment and I do use my mobile phone to access Redmen.com I am not a very good typist either and, it’s often hard to press the right keys . I will try and improve in the off season ,working on that as well as, my flat footed 1 hand set shot, a la Bob Cousy. You remember Bob Cousy , Jack? Probably not ... if you never saw him play , check him out on Google . He was quite a Player back in the Day.
