Brady Status

Brady is an end-of-the-rotation guy at this point. He's not one of our stars, and even if healthy this year would've still just been a bench player for us. So if he goes, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Doesn't mean I don't think he's a great kid and teammate, or that I don't wish him well in life. And sure, I'd love for him to stay just because I think there's something to having some continuity. But he's not a star player for us, that's just a fact, and that was the basis of my whole point.
I guess without a proper sample size, it’s hard to fully evaluate him. He adds a dimension that the team does not have. We saw, at times lat year, when he was given more minutes, he did pretty well. I for one hope he comes back next year. He may not be a starter but perhaps if he gets 10-15 min consistent time, he may show us what we originally thought he would do when he signed on. Shooting is all about confidence. Hard to be confident when you are a freshman with sporadic minutes or injured and not playing.

I wonder how quickly Brady can get back to training. Not necessarily basketball related training, but weight and athleticism training. It would be great for him to continue working on his body like he was in the offseason

I agree. As you said the continuity is nice on a lot of levels even in this semi-pro environment and more than enough scholarships available. I like him and hope he returns.

I would say since 40% is a good 3 pt % and Brady had only taken 19 shots, if he missed 11 in a row when healthy his % would still have been 40%. Before the injury was shooting 63% from 3, and overall 18 for 26, 69%. Those are numbers that 7 foot guys who only dunk don't put up.
Agree its only a handful of games but it was a super encouraging way to start the season.

I’m a Brady fan and I agree Beast. Injuries have held him back. I really hope he’s back next year. Even though he was only a bench player this year , his skill set is what this team is missing right now. We are a very good team but I still think we’re a little better with Brady.

One other thing about Brady: some kids aching for playing time and exposure fire off shots as soon as they touch the ball in brief cameos. Glover does this sometimes and it annoys me even if understandable. I feel Brady mostly came in like a veteran, moved without the ball and even in garbage time, passed freely and not looking to get in the scorebook. Plus in stoppages in play always races to Pitino to chat and get instruction.

product of being the son of a coach. It's ingrained in him.

Correct. The idea he was and end of a bench player when healthy is false.

They were sleep walking thru the Quinnipiac game and Brady literally shot them out of their slumber. That was no end of a bench player.

Last night's win made me wonder:

Presuming Brady's thumb has healed, as this season's trajectory continues to rise, could Brady return if his abdominal.injury permits?

As our outside shooting lags, and bench points have waned, having a healthy Brady could fill important roles that could help a deep March run.

In a special season, this could be sn x factor if possible.

Well Brady was the first one off the bench waving bye to the Marquette players fouling out....Seems healthy to me.

He'll be back if Pitino keeps him. He looks like he is having fun on the team.

I meant return this season for maybe the BET or dance. The exposure might be worth it for him

I want him back. There are a few angles to view this from...he was getting good minutes with great older talent like RJ, Scott, and Richmond here. That is a very good sign for him next year as a redshirt soph. We also clearly need shooting and Pitino has a history of playing similar players in prominent roles. If he wants to have a shot at the NBA, he will need to improve his defense. There is no better coach for that.

The other side is that Pitino doesn't do a lot to get his shooters open looks compared to other top coaches, so his shooting %s will take a hit.

He's long, he has some great potential versatility with 10-15 lbs of muscle, and he can handle and pass. No brainer on our end.

But can he play this defensive style? Or be a good enough asset offensively to off set it?

We can’t do what we’ve been doing during this streak with him getting major minutes IMO.

He had surgery and was declared out for the year and getting a redshirt year. That extra year has real financial implications for him in this era, and I can't imagine him returning.
C'mon, America was built on imagination. Well aware of NIL, but if we go to the FF let's say, and Brady was a key part, he would double his NIL next year.

Not disagreeing with you, but a healthy Brady could be the difference between an early exit and a deep run.

I think he can get by due to his versatility. Do well 2-4…keep the 1 and 5 honest.
