“Reaching”Maher starts every game with two fouls like Scott.
He change his name or join the Mets? There are a lot of dangerous names at the end of the 1st round if you are Mookie.
I honestly don’t think he showed enough this season to warrant a 1st round pick.
I dont see Boogie coming here. But lets say he did. Get ready for st johns to be the poster child for "buying a college basketball team".
There will be a lot of flack from the media how st johns ruined college hoops.
Staff def doesn't want to be telling fans that they have interest in players already on other teams, lol.Quick personal boogie anecdote that likely means nothing - I met boogie's dad in providence, at the Arkansas team hotel lobby the day before our disaster against them. Saw him wearing Stepinec Varsity jacket, so I knew he must be part of Boogie's team. Was a really nice guy and very complimentary of everything SJU has going on. I gave him the recruiting pitch on if NBA didn't work out this year, why not come learn under the legend RP and rock MSG for a year, and he was clearly excited about that possibility. Anyways later that night I saw a prominent member of SJU staff (not Rick) and I jokingly told him I was working on recruiting boogie, to which I got the response that we have ZERO interest in him.. As I said to start this post, likely means nothing but did seem like his honest opinion. Obviously things are always fluid.. but I'll take some credit if he does end up here
I just saw this but it’s funny that I posted that article a week ago. I have no inside information and would still be surprised if Boogie played for St. John’s but Boogie and Ian together would create opportunities for themselves outside of what they would be getting directly from guys like Repole. Would be great for the programs at Stepinac and Hayes.Exactly, let’s make magic again at the Mecca!l for the Johnnie’s! Two boys from the Bronx as seen in the article below. This can happen!

Exclusive | Meet the Bronx hoops stars set to become first NYC high schoolers with NIL deals
They are known as Captain Jack and Boogie — the future of New York City high school basketball.nypost.com
With a chance at doing really things if getting Boogie, there can't be any limits.Ian and Boogie are friends. I'm sure they're talking. Rick's played two PGs a lot. You can overcome that.
We got Lee's NIL slot left over. Also think we aren't going to really have limits on this one...
In the CHSAA playoffs his senior year, I saw two Boogies in two games. One where he scored 35 points and dominated the ball and another where he worked within the team concept. They won both. He seemed to be a very good teammate. If Boogie is borderline first round, he would only stay in college for big money and a team that gives him the best platform to showcase his talents for the NBA. We can show him the money (thank you, Mr. Repole), but does SJU give him the best platform? Kadary was great this past year because, among other reasons, he didn't play like the alpha on the team. Would Boogie be as selfless? I'd still take him in a heartbeat, but team chemistry is a real thing.
I'm going with Matt using a fake name telling Zach that so other teams don't think Boogie is taking calls and forget about him. Then why put name in transfer portal. Go to NBA or Arkansas.
So I am not completely buying what Zach wrote. No fault of his but nothing is concrete in this new NIL world
Reasonable. My interpretation of what Cal, SJU79 (and the SEC assist) and Paultz have said is that if Boogie is drafted in first round at all he is gone. If he is second round he may be open to the idea of coming home trying to win a national championship and going as a lottery pick with Captain Jack the following year. But what do I know? Then why put name in transfer portal. Go to NBA or Arkansas.

This post makes way too much senseReasonable. My interpretation of what Cal, SJU79 (and the SEC assist) and Paultz have said is that if Boogie is drafted in first round at all he is gone. If Chris Mullin and Mike Anderson couldn’t do it nothing will.I have tried willing you out of my life for ten years w no luck.![]()
I'd say that's probably right. It is crazy to say, but we can easily pay him more money than a first round pick. And if you're an American, you're in a bit of trouble since you are less likely to accept being drafted & stashed.Reasonable. I think Repole will end up going to Rick and say take my cash this is our chance
We've got all the time in the world to wait. If Boogie makes it to NBA, I'll root like hell for him and Pitino thinks Jackson is a PG.I'd say that's probably right. We have to remember that there's no incentive for anyone to leak that Boogie is considering going back to college.
On Boogie's side: he needs NBA teams to think he's 100% going pro. Otherwise, they may take him less seriously as a prospect/not schedule interviews/not schedule individual workouts.
On STJ side: we need to make sure we don't scare off backup options. There's a decent chance he impresses enough in a workout to get a guarantee. So we can't telegraph to anybody that it's happening/close/a target. Why would a Dylan Darling or someone like that commit if they know there's a good chance of them having no PT later?
Just gotta wait this one out, and I'd say, listen to what scouts are saying to random NBA writers. Those are the ones with limited incentive, since they know tanking his stock would mean he's out of the draft entirely.
Yeah. I think we'll sign a PG before Boogie (or, other PGs in the process for that matter, including Euros). We've got all the time in the world to wait. If Boogie makes it to NBA, I'll root like hell for him and Pitino thinks Jackson is a PG.
But if he's looking like a second rounder . . .
