Bobby Hurley Shuffling Off to Buffalo

It could very well turn out to be a great move for them as his bloodlines and past experience are outstanding.
Time will tell.

Mullen correction Mullin. Did ya wanna answer question or just blast me.

I'll bite, Hurley. I think players nowadays have better chance of knowing him then Chris. I think that goes along way.

This may be a silly question, but why do you say young players would know Hurley but not HOFer, Dream Teamer Mullin?

I think its because especially in the Northeast Danny has been out there at events, scouting, recruiting. He's active in the market as it were. Mullin, not so much. He's a historical figure. I'm sure all the kids know his name and what he looks like on the old timers team in the video games but that's about it.

Kids know the Dream Team. Kids know Mullin from that and being one of the 50 greatest in NBA history. Plus he was on ESPN for a recent stretch.

Agree...good to very good college player vs. great college player...no success as Pro vs. HOFer...do you think kids would resonate more with Laetner over Ewing

If we had to get a coach in here in a hurry would u guys prefer Hurley or Mullen?

I know Hurley can coach. Not sure about Chris. He obviously has a high BB IQ, but does it translate? Not a risk we can take.

Edit: I assume we are talking about Danny, right?

Geez, the Hurleys have only been at Rhode Island for a year, and Rhode Island is near the bottom of the A-10. Do you think that Hurley is a prominent name among Blue Chip recruits, or that his name resonates at all? He's 20 years removed from a stellar college career, and of course his pro career was hampered by a serious car accident. You might be correct about his visibility, but I find it hard to believe that recruits have any knowledge of Hurley, who was done playing before these kids started kindergarden.

I assume NJ kids know who he is. There have certainly been more athletic players, but I imagine he's still the gold standard of NJ point guards.

I was talking about Bobby. Danny's a hot commodity. It's Bobby who just got his first head coaching job, right. If not I really butchered this thread. Why would Danny go to Buffalo?

I totally agree. I know 8th grade basketball players who know who Chris Mullin is because of the above reasons..which I think is so cool.

But then they usually say, "I didn't know he went to St. John's, aren't they a terrible team?"

Ouch...not so cool for me to hear.

If we're talking about Bobby then I switch my answer to Mullin. I was responding re Danny.
