Bobby Hurley Gets New Contract At Buffalo

He will wait it out for coach K to leave and take over Duke. He never entertained the idea of coming to SJU.
 
And I received a new tie, which won't stop me from buying another, more expensive one.
 
"Unsigned"being key word. good for Bobby H, nice leverage on several fronts.
 
A high major school would easily pay more than double his new base salary
Having the new contract offer gives Hurley good leverage with other schools
Until he signs the offer, he is still in play at St John's or anywhere else

that would be a classy move, how would you like it if the did that to SJU? Are we desperate or not?

It probably has been done before, but says alot about the person.
 
@GoodmanESPN: Bobby Hurley has not signed deal to stay at Buffalo, sources told ESPN. As of this moment, source said he intends to interview with DePaul.
 
Does anyone remember the movie Goonies? At the end the Spanish maid was trying to tell Josh Brolin and Rudy's Dad not to sign the contract to sell the Goonie home. "No pen, no sign, no pen, no sign". That wil be Marillac at the Buffalo / Hurley contract signing.
 
its not that bad, its actually a win-win for Bobby and Buffalo. The new contract gives him more money so if he doesn't leave he gets $$. But also that new deal probably way ups the buyout price so when a school like SJU or DePaul comes along they pay Buff a higher buyout fee. In Buff eyes if he wants to leave for more money hes gone either way, they might as well get a higher buyout fee.

He knows Bobby has suitors. By increasing buy out he helps the University if BH stays. Until Bobby signs, the AD can do nothing more than stand behind his offer. I'm sure Bobby appreciates that. The AD reacted quickly, but until BH is willing to sign, he has no other move. For Buffalo job he made a generous offer & probably his best. Just my opinion.

A smart school immediately rewards a guy like that for success. $300K for a head basketball coach at a school like Buffalo shows they are serious about their program. Tearing it up so quickly and giving him a raise shows that they are doubly on the ball about keeping him.
 
Just a little perspective for the Bobby Hurley cult. When Danny was hired at Wagner, all of the articles in the local paper(SI Advance) were about how nice it was for Danny to bring big brother along for the ride. You know rescuing him from being out of basketball basically.
Now people are rushing to fire a coach who got us into the tournament for him. I guess he has come a reallly long way. From Wagner college tag along to SJU savior.
