Big East Tournament Seeding

Where do you think we wind up being seeded?
Looks like SJU could be seeded anywhere from third to ninth as of today, March 3.

You are correct. The SJU fall from grace would then be complete.

Ok, I think I worked in out for the rest of the way:

Nova - Beat SH
Marquette - Beat SH and Gtown
StJ - Beat X (duh)
X - Lose to Butler and StJ
Gtown - Lose to DePaul and Marquette
Creighton - Lose to Providence, Beat DePaul
Butler - Beat X and Providence
SH - Lose to Marquette and Nova
Providence - Beat Creighton, Lose to Butler
DePaul - Beat Gtown, Lose to Creighton

This puts us in third, logjam of 4 teams at 8-10 in fourth.

And I am not insane.

Also I posted this in another thread. But I’ll say it here.

I know all of us are dreading us somehow ending up in the Wednesday games. So am I. I am begging that doesn’t happen. But at the same time most of us expect a loss @Xavier.

So here’s how we can end up with a bye whilst also losing to Xavier. All scenarios are assuming we end 8-10 which I obviously hope we don’t

First, seton hall needs to drop both of these last two games. They are both home games, but both against Marquette and nova. This will be tough, but seton hall should be underdogs in both of these.

Next, Butler, DePaul, Providence all need to lose one more game of their last two.

PC - @Creighton, Butler
Butler - Xavier, @PC
DePaul - Georgetown, @Creighton

Note: one of providence/butler is guaranteed to lose one more game, while DePaul is also highly likely to lose one more, I’d be shocked if they even win one of those. I’d say root for creighton win hold serve at home against Providence, and then hope Providence does the same against Butler, while DePaul also drops a game.

There’s also another layer to this, creighton has to home games to end the year, and they will be favored to win both. But if they could just drop one, we will both be 8-10 and we own the tiebreakers for sweeping them.

I’d say these scenarios are pretty likely to happen, so even with a loss next weekend we should stay out of Wednesday night, but seton hall could ruin it.
SJU gets the higher seed based on us being 3-1 vs the two top seeds.
If that’s the case, does this mean we would end up a higher seed than seton hall if we both end up 8-10. If that’s the case then we just need seton hall to lose one more time, and we need PC/DePaul/Butler all to lose one more time for us to clinch a top 6 finish

Yes, but did your mother have you tested? ;)

Just trying to figure out whether to buy tickets, for Thursday afternoon or night.

Once people figure out when St. John's is playing the prices for that session will go up. (Unless it is Wednesday night.)

Appreciate this. I filled out a ton of scenarios, and basically, If we win @xavier. We will be the 3 seed unless Georgetown wins both of their last two games, one of which is a Road game @marquette.

However if the likely favored teams win the remaining games, we will be the 6 seed playing the 3 seeded Xavier, not good. We actually need to root for butler to beat X at home tomorrow

I just hope everything breaks so that we play either creighton or Seton Hall in the quarterfinals, those are the best matchups for us

Weird thing is, if we get past the quarterfinals, we get favorable matchups if things shake out as expected.

Yep, it’s weird but the teams that terrorize us this year are for the most part at the bottom of the standings
