St John's students are asked to go home. I guess the crowd for the Johnnies will be a lot smaller Wed night?
I understand public health is more important than a game. The Big East needs to carefully think about the decision to fill MSG with people.

All St John's campuses will close until March 27. What does that mean for the athletic department?

St. John’s University asked students living in on-campus dorms to return to their homes and announced the school will be suspending in-person classes amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Effective Tuesday, the Queens school will hold classes exclusively online until March 27, University President Dr. Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw wrote in an email to students Monday night.

Huge if true

Will still be very tough...G'Town will be very hungry after losing like 6 straight and feel like they always get up for us.

All well and good. But you are removing their 2 best players. They had both when they blew our doors off. They had only 1 and we barely lost. Continue that progression.
Very difficult for a mediocre team to beat another team 3 times in one season.
This is a very misleading stat that gets thrown around a lot. In theory, it sounds like it would be true. its actually the exact opposite. Its actually hard to beat a team in the 3rd game if they have beaten you twice already that season.

According to STATS LLC., there have been 981 similar matchups across Division I college basketball over the past 10 seasons. The teams entering the third game 2-0 are a combined 710-271 (.724 winning percentage) in the third meeting.

So over a 10-year period in college basketball including almost 1,000 games, the team that won the first 2 games won the third meeting 72.4% of the time. So it clearly doesn’t follow that it is hard to beat a team 3 times. In fact, it’s actually kind of easy.

The Johnnies have a reasonable chance of winning against Georgetown with McClung and Yurtseven out.

Ewing has done a phenomenal job coaching Georgetown. Especially considering the players that left and recent injuries.

Agree on both counts

I specifically said “mediocre team”, which Georgetown is. So unless you want to dig deeper in to those stats to see who played who, I’ll stick by my assertion that a mediocre team(also playing on the road) is going to have a tough time winning a 3rd game against an opponent. FYI SJU is -3. Hardly a huge spread, but clearly the books give SJU the edge.

Win this one and get some momentum rolling for the first time in a long time. Creighton is looking mighty scrumptious to beat right now. Gotta get this one first. First game is always the toughest.

They just took Villanova down to the wire without McClung and Yurtseven. Hopefully we pull it out, but I will be surprised if this is an easy game.

Agree. They are a bad matchup for us. It is going to take everything we got to beat them. They have our number.

Georgetown seems to have our number this year.... Game 1 with Mac and Yurt....game 2 just Yurt... game 3... neither apparently. Having lead by 17 in game 2 should instill a bit of confidence in the guys that they can and should win... but like most games this year, i would like to see us play the same way, the whole game...

Far too many times, it seems that when we got a lead, our game play changes. we stop pushing and pressing and try and take the air out of the ball.

Georgetown has shown some grit this year in the face of adversity. Not normally a fan of theirs, but def respect how they competed this year.

Should be a good game

Without the scoring of McClung and Yurtseven the highest average of the starters is 11 points a game. Let's not make Pickett a star tonight, make him earn his points.Keep him off the boards. The three guards aren't bad from the three point line. Let's penetrate and pick up some quick fouls. Also let's do a better job stopping their penetration.
I want to watch us on Thursday as well. Go Redmen!

But what % of those teams who won all 3 were mediocre?
