Worst season in St. John's history?

The sexcapades season was bad, but atleast that was the walkons.
This was the regular players, so I'd say this year.

As a counterpoint, the sexcapde said season was a year without hope. Not much talent, no leadership and real questions whether the program would recover.

We took our lumps this year, but at least we have reason to believe it will get better.

oh there's no doubt that it will get better, I think Mullin could do bigger things then Louie did here.

Oldschool, how about seeing coach Mullin exceed Norm's performance before predicting bigger things than the accomplishments of a coach who has his name on our home court? I do think you're right about good progress being by a 13 win season next year with an NIT season in the Spring of 2018.

I'd be happy with that as long as the players and coaches show effort in every game and the program produces winning seasons in year four and beyond.

I am more optimistic on next season and the future. Think we will be better than expected. Atlantis will help. Playing a true road game early (Carrier Dome?) will help.

I don't know I think we will be good. I am already excited

I agree Jack, I think we will be better than people think. We lost Sima to injury, Ellison and Darien Williams to injury and Yakwe didn't play a full year. I expect Sima amd Yakwe to get stronger and make some nice strides next season. Mussini will be playing in position and will get stronger, Ellison will hit the weight room. I like the improvement of CJ and Alibegovic over last season and expect the same type of improvement from this season to next with them. I wouldn't sleep on Darien Williams either. I know he has to prove that he can stay healthy but if he can he's another 6'9 guy who can stretch the floor. with the new guys coming in and Lovett and Owens, we have a solid team. I expect some losses early but I can see next years team really solidifying come February.

I don't think there was anymore we could have done on Offense.

Oh yes. Don't let Balamou play most of the first half and part of the second. Ellison sat out the first half after throwing away another pass. In the second half he and Mussini penetrated the Marquette's defense, both going to the foul line and getting us back in the game.

If I remember correctly, Ellison picked up two quick first-half fouls.

Yes, and after we fell behind by double digits, he came back in, and later picked up a third.

5 foul rule in college sucks for that reason. Get two early and you sit an entire half. Pick up a 3rd early in e second half and sit another long spell.

It's not the 5 foul rule that sucks it's the new rules, that if you touch a player a foul gets called. Tough to play D and disrupts the game.
