Guess the Yankees weren’t wrong when they heard the whistling
I didn’t know how to link. Go to @jomboy. They have posted (not whistling) but banging noise right before pitch. As far back as 2017. In fact, Springer hits a bomb off Chris Flexen of Mets. Not sure why anyone needs help hitting Flexen but....it’s all on video clear as day. Multiple videos.

Yeah not sure but the banging ones are pretty obvious. The other one I watched was Danny Farquhar against Astros. Looks like he picked up on it. They changed up the signs and he Ks Evan Gattis. So obviously other teams figured it out.

Take their draft picks for a couple of years.

This is just a higher tech version of how the Giants came back from 14 or 15 games back in 1951, capped by the "Shot heard 'round the world", Bobby Thompson's home run against Ralph Branca.

Bobby Thompson (s Staten Islander, I just learned while visiting the incredible CYO facility there), knew what Branca was doing to throw. The Giants had a lookout in the scoreboard with binoculars, who would signals the bullpen, who had a buzzer to the dugout indicating the pitch. The third base coach, Leo Druchoer would then signal the batter, perfected all to a couple of seconds.

Branca, who was continually booed at public appearances for many, many years, found out about the cheating in 1954. Despite being one of the great young National league pitchers, he tried to come back from an arm injury too soon to shake the label of "bum", and damaged his arm. He was discarded to Cleveland, where the backup catcher from the Giants had also landed, and who told him of the cheating. Branca, not wanting to be labeled a whiner, kept his mouth shit for over 50 years until a book about how the Giants stole the pennant was published. He tried to get MLB to invalidate the pennant and give the Dodgers NL championship rings, which they would not do.

MLB should act quickly to strip the Astros of their accomplishments. This is systemic cheating endorsed by the organization, not a baserunner trying to steal a sign and relaying it

Probably looking at a fine and the loss of some draft picks. They are never ever going to “strip” accomplishments. They will always try to minimize “cheating”. In fact, I have no problem stealing signs. That has been around forever.

However, the real problem is the blatant use of technology that is the bigger problem. Shame on MLB for not putting proper restrictions and oversight at the ballparks. They had to know full well this type of activity is all too possible with technology. Where were they is the real question.

If this is as bad and pervasive as it seems, then you have to nuke the Astros.

Its not just about the integrity of the game, its about the liability they have created for themselves and Major League Baseball. All I'm gonna say is that if I'd bet a few grand on the Yankees, or any other team the Astros beat on their way to the title in 2017, I'm filing a lawsuit for defrauding the public.

If I'm the commissioner I'm voiding their championship (Here's a prepaid fedex airbill for shipping it back).
I'm fining the owner $25M and making him pay the settlements on the lawsuits coming from fans and gamblers.
I'm suspending the GM and his top staff for two years, because there's no way a camera gets installed illegally in CF without his approval.
I'm suspending AJ Hinch for two years also.
I'm suspending every member of his staff for a year (regardless of where they are now).
And any player who played a major role in this shit show gets suspended for 2 months.
The franchise forfeits all 1st and 2nd round draft picks for the next 5 years and they cannot sign an international FA for more than $50k over that same 5 year span.

Really disappointed with MLB.

These punishments are bad when compared to punishments they've handed out in the past but they do NOTHING to prevent people from cheating again.

If you poled owners right now there might be 2 or 3 of them that wouldn't trade their GM & Coach for a season, $5m, and a pair of First & Second round picks for this year's WS title.

They had to void the title and demand the trophy be returned. Epic FAIL for MLB.

My thought exactly. Void the title and do the same to the Red Sux. Make the risk too great to cheat again.

This is nothing compared to the Alex Cora.investigation.
Two seperate investigations. Hope they nail that ummmm guy.
Can't call him what i really wanted to.

I thought this was fair. I don't think the cheating changed the outcome.

It's impossible to say whether it changed the outcome, but they sure did crush the ball in almost every key moment.

MLB didn't do enough IMO
The GM and manager should have been banned for life
A $5 million fine is a joke - a drop in the bucket
It should have been at least 5 times that amount

Cheating has been part of baseball for a long time. Whether it’s Vaseline, greenies, steroids, or super balls, it has been prevalent in America’s Pastime..

“If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying”

I don’t like it, but it is what it is...

Guess I can feel good about my mets sucking in that wont have to worry about these accusations

Heard that 5 mill is the maximum a major league team can be fined.
