and such a pleasant guy as a coach!Watched PC and they do have some nice enough pieces to contend for a Dance ticket. Interesting mix of freshmen and returnees.

Can’t stand his arrogance and sore losing crap.and such a pleasant guy as a coach!
I think the expectations that Creighton was going to be top 25 this year was always a little ambitious. Kalk, Neal and that leperchuan kid who I can't remember his name were all such massive pieces of the team, with Kalk being a legend in that program for years. Given the guys they added I think it is a lot to ask that they are a force this year. See them as more of a bubble team. Big east looks very lame this year
The pesky PG was Steven Ashworth. He was excellent for Creighton. The only way I could have despised him more would be if he played for Yukon.Yeah losing Kalk and their pesky, annoying PG is not easily absorbed. McD, a super HC, will make the best of it and they certainly can overachieve. From small sample last night though, I think is likely a transitional year for them.
From what you saw of Gonzaga in the first half against Creighton and if the possibility exists to play Gonzaga in Vegas, how do you think St. John's matches up with them?Agree.
Off the top of my head, I remember Marquette beating Purdue and Creighton beating Kansas.
Very different dynamic last year. The middle looked awful, with Villanova, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Butler, and Providence losing to mid-majors. DePaul looked better than the past, which wasn’t a compliment.
This year. UConn and us are the only two teams that look top 25 worthy. Georgetown looks like, maybe an interesting bubble team or better. Mack impressed me, he clearly put on 10-12lbs and won’t be easy to push off. Edit to include: Caught some of Nova-BYU and think they will have a very high floor due to Willard. They won’t free fall.
I haven’t watched Providence or Marquette yet.
I watched first half of Creighton-Gonzaga. Creighton just isn’t that good, pretty slow, and Freeman is nowhere close to a replacement, or what they need, of Kalk. If it wasn’t for a first half free throw disparity, they would’ve been down much bigger.
Johnnies vs Gonzaga would be a hell of a game. Ike and Huff vs Zuby and Hopkins is a high level front court duel. From what you saw of Gonzaga in the first half against Creighton and if the possibility exists to play Gonzaga in Vegas, how do you think St. John's matches up with them?
Agree with Jack. I think we’re more talented and physically gifted than the Zags, but they’re more connected. We wouldn’t have to double Ike like Creighton did. From what you saw of Gonzaga in the first half against Creighton and if the possibility exists to play Gonzaga in Vegas, how do you think St. John's matches up with them?
Did Binghamton get in a plane crash or something to be missing 5 guys to injury ?Georgetown up 12, early in the second half, on Binghamton after only being up by 5 at the half. Binghamton is missing 5 players due to injury.
Or, practiced with their football team. Their bench resembles intramural play.Did Binghamton get in a plane crash or something to be missing 5 guys to injury ?
They don’t have a football team but do have a Men’s Rugby Team.Or, practiced with their football team. Their bench resembles intramural play.
Outside of St. John's, Georgetown, Ucon and Nova.......the rest of the Big East will never be able to outbid any major power 5 team for NIL players. This is why I detest what has happened to college "amateur" basketball. It's not about coaching or legendary programs any longer......it's just all about the BENJAMINS.the fact that I am seeing a lot of talk in here about Georgetown needing to step up for the conference means we are in very bad situation this year as a league
I'd add Marquette and Creighton to that, & maybe DePaul if everything breaks right (like us) but I agree.Outside of St. John's, Georgetown, Ucon and Nova.......the rest of the Big East will never be able to outbid any major power 5 team for NIL players.
