Around the Big East 18/19
Don't get me wrong, I want as many ranked Big East teams as possible of course, but would anyone be willing to bet with me that Seton Hall will not end the season ranked? I'd bet a lot of money on that. Our conference is simply too tough top to bottom to dominate unless your name is Villanova. Again the question, who but Powell puts fear into the hearts of opponents? If you put a team in the top 10 preseason it pretty much implies they will stick around all season, no? I think G'Town may be better. IMO SHU will be lucky to stick around in the top 25 for any extended period of time even at #25. Top 10 usually means you dominate OOC, pick up some signature wins, and then dominate your conference. If you remember, they had many games they won by the skin of their teeth and they got quite lucky especially with us. Not to take away their wins, they still won them, but I don't think they are clearly better than G'Town, Villanova, PC, Marquette, etc. Xavier may even be better than them this year.
I'll take the bet that SHU will be ranked 25 or higher in the AP Poll at seasons end.. PM me if you're interested. Need to define the parameters. Define end of seaosn - is it end of regular season, BET, or post-season tourneys. and of the course the amount.

Please explain how ranking them 12th is top 10? I'll hang up and listen.

Impact on BE of NBA Draft decisions;

Big East – Sure, Shamorie Ponds left St. John’s — but overall, the league fared extremely well. Xavier returned all four guys that tested the waters: Naji Marshall, Paul Scruggs, Tyrique Jones and Quentin Goodin. Seton Hall brought back its star, Myles Powell. Providence gets Alpha Diallo back and Creighton split, bringing back Davion Mintz and losing Martin Krampelj.

Am sure they just forgot about Simon.

Big East is the only conference listed as a "winner". Meanwhile, in the Top 10 losers you have 2 AAC teams (Memphis/Houston), 3 SEC (Georgia/Tennessee/Auburn), 2 B1G (Michigan/Iowa St), 2 ACC (Syracuse/Wake), and 1 PAC (Oregon). St. John's sadly should probably be listed as a "loser" (at least in top 15), but no doubt the rest of the Big East fared really well.

Big East is positioned to have a big year. Half our league may be in and out of the AP Top 25 (Villanova, Seton Hall, Xavier, Marquette, Creighton, Georgetown..... and even Providence, St. John's and Butler should be decent). Going to be a fun year, and CMA should have plenty of opportunities to get some year 1 statement wins.

So I guess he won't be paying much attention to his professors during classes.

Big news in the Big East tonight: Marquette will now have former four-star junior Symir Torrence for their 2019 class as he has reclassified and will play for MU next season.

I could see providence competing for top spot in BE next year.

Seton Hall's Ikey Obiagu blocked a total of 71 shots two years ago as a freshman at Florida State. No one player on the Pirates blocked more than 41 last season. Kevin Willard's squad will be better defensively at the rim in 19-20. #shbb

2019-20 is looking like it'll be a 'rite of passage', 'running the gauntlet' year for St. John's up against 'Nova, The Hall, G*Town, Marquette, Xavier, Creighton, Providence and a test for Iron Mike to compete and win a few in a battle against better teams.
Here's hoping we prevail and are competitive but be prepared to wear teeth-grinding prevention trays throughout the Season.
Here's to it...
Quinerly to Alabama.

And evidently he is applying for a waiver to play immediately I have no idea on what grounds.
Well, it's not because he needs to be closer to home
He has nothing to lose by applying for a waiver
If he loses, he still sits out for a year
Nothing ventured, nothing gained

So Goodie is saying that all the stress caused by the fact he was named in the investigation last year that caused him to de-commit from Arizona and go to Villanova will be the basis for his waiver. Sounds crazy? Yes. But Justin Fields, QB at Georgia, transferred to Ohio St and got a waiver based on the fact that he was the target of a racial epithet from a Georgia baseball player. The baseball player was reprimanded. But his waiver was granted based on "emotional distress." Sounds like Quinerly is going that route.

When Fields transferred to Ohio State and got his waiver, Martell claims that he was told by the coaching staff that he would not be given an opportunity to compete for the starting position. The rest is history.

That what he claimed he was told yes but that was not ultimately the grounds for the waiver, the overall coaching change along with Fields likely immediately eligible was why it was granted.
A lot of respect for BE in this “way too early” top 25 prediction:

https://www.espn.com/mens-coll.../kansas-michigan-way-too-early-top-25-2019-20
With four teams in the top 25, and 2 more in the "next in line" category, this figures to be a very rough year for our guys. My feeling is that even if we end up being closer to the bottom than the top of the Big East we can still play smart, competitive basketball that will be a sign of better things to come and a source of optimism.

Five-star Chet Holmgren has booked two unofficial visits for this weekend: He will visit Georgetown and Maryland, a source told @Stockrisers. 7-footer is having an amazing spring.
