Around the Big East 18/19
Wow, since Heron isn't listed as impact transfer, guess that means SJU ranking of #3 is w/o him?
Agree NCJohnnie, the #3 ranking seems a bit frothy w/o Heron, but very much in-line with him.
Mr. Rothstein seems to like our team, including 2 of our 3 incoming freshmen. Cool.
Let's go Johnnies.
Big East Preseason First Team:

Markus Howard, Marquette
Shamorie Ponds, St. John's
Kamar Baldwin, Butler
Eric Paschall, Villanova
Jessie Govan, Georgetown

Big East Preseason Sleeper:

Seton Hall

Big East Preseason Player of the Year:

Shamorie Ponds, St. John's

Per Rothstein
If Eric Paschall is 1 of the 5 best players in the conference, no BE team should make the tournament.

Paschall might be an All American this season.

Paschall Averaged 11 pts. 5 rbs and 2 assists last year and shot 53% overall, 36% from three and 81% from line. He was 4th or 5th offensive option on runaway national champion; suspect he will be one of main options as upper class leader and stats will improve accordingly. If not first team, he should certainly be second team all conference.

Let's hope so, JohhnyFan.

I assume the hope is that Keita will be one. And Earlington in the pre-conference schedule.

Eric Paschall will be one of Nova's top scorers. Obviously they don't want to leave Nova out of the top picks. He belongs!

Per Steve Nanoliilo, PC Senior AD;

We are closing in on 7500 Men’s Basketball season ticket holders for the upcoming year. Amazing job by Coach Cooley, his staff & ticket office. That is a 4000 increase since he took over. Student season tickets will be sold out for the 3rd straight year. Special times #gofriars

Imho Cooley has done an excellent job coaching & recruiting at PC over the last several years. He was a great hire by Friars.

Filing this under 'curious', but noticed Rivals has that Precious visited UCONN on 6/25/18. Was that an 'official' visit?
Kofi took 'unofficials' to UCONN and St. John's--nothing mentioned.
Found no other of our top targets, with a 'visit' checked.
Odd?
Plus, Rivals doesn't have us either recruiting or having offered James Bishop.
Annoying.

These things are often not updated on sites like Rivals and ESPN. They don’t have the resources to be updating every recruit for every event.

I like to read ESPNs top recruit lists after they have been updated as I believe they do devote some resources to that. As far as each recruits list of schools etc., I don't believe they are worth the time it takes to google them. Get much more timely info on redmen.com. I don't have access to rivals.com but sounds like they are not a whole lot more current.

Understood, but it's on the new rankings by Rivals today. NP. Thanks.
