The first thought I had was, why even require them to go to classes and act like it's even school anymore. Just make it a separate entity associated with the school.
 
Back in the day, college basketball players like Roger Rowan, Tony Jackson & Connie Hawkins got caught up with associating with gamblers like Jack Molinas and paid a price. Others shaved points and usually the common issue was many of these guys did not have much $ in their pockets. In NIL era that is not the case and I believe more pervasive college player gambling is an accident waiting to happen or a current situation.

Or maybe even a certainty already happening.

You just had an NBA player making $25 million a year throw his career away over (to him) pocket change. Gambling addiction is a horrible disease which apparently knows no socio-economic bounds (totally agree with your observation re the guys you named, they needed a few bucks)
 
Most of poster concerns justifiably have centered on the point guard position. It appears perimeter shooting should be better than last year, but to me beside the PG question, is how well this group will defend collectively. That was our bread and butter in 2025 and so many of our crucial, nail biting wins at crunch time were the result of getting stops and making plays on D.

Some have noted legitimate concern whether or not Darling can guard faster and stronger BE level players, but getting everyone in sync defensively also merits attention. Mitchell seems a great addition in that regard. Zuby is also a D positive, but replacing the intensity and on ball pressure D effectiveness of guys like Scott, Smith and crafty Kadary is a challenge worth monitoring imo.
