Around College Basketball

Wake with a bad loss to BC.

Going to be close with them.  Solid metrics but only 1 Quad One win (UNC).  When you are a bubble team cannot have bad losses at end of year.

Bobby Hurley’s ASU team loses to Stanford with a  sub .500 yr. He must be on hot seat. If Kimani gets UMass job perhaps Danny Hurley throws his brother a life line.

Former SJ recruit Luther Muhammad btw has been a bust there averaging five points a game

The ACC has suspended Syracuse's Buddy Boeheim for Thursday's ACC Tournament game against Duke for his cheap shot today

There’s one I thought would be a good player.

Glad we have Wusu, who's already better with a year's less experience.

Pitino loses to Rider. Would love to get a shot at them in NIT.
That never even occurred to me, mostly because I'm still under the belief (or delusion) that we will win the BET.

But that would be fun. Would certainly draw eyeballs, including from guys here who have said the NIT does nothing for them.

Colgate made the NCAA tournament. Colgate and Seton Hall are the only tournament teams we have beaten so far. Let’s get some more.

Clearly he is too old, and the game has passed him by, and his style of basketball can't even guarantee a win vs. the worst team in his conference.  Can he even recruit enough in the MAAC?  Maybe it's their facilities.  or no budget to pay recruits.

On a serious note, Cluess took his team to the dance 8 times in 10 years, and was in 1st place the other two times.   Already a tough act for Pitino to follow, except for the finishing first and getting knocked out part.

Rick coaching in one bid MAAC that opts to have their Tournament in Atlantic City in front of ten fans and a slot machine can’t make him too happy. To boot, Monmouth is leaving and doubt they attract a decent program to fill void. Why the MAAC does not follow patriot League model of teams with best records hosting Tourney games. It produces a much better atmosphere. As it now stands they get zero TV coverage anyway.

Syracuse up 4 on Duke at the half without Buddy.  Bit of a shock considering they were blitzed twice by Duke with Buddy.

Syracuse still up 52-45 and Indiana has stormed back against Michigan tied 63-63 after being down double digits most of the game.

Wow Michigan blew a 17 point lead and lost to IU.  Both on the bubble.

Syracuse not going away, down 1 with about 4 minutes left to Duke.

Your periodic reminder that the ACC is trash and that the Big 10 has about 3 good teams, one maybe-good team, and a pile of trash.

And just like that Jimmy B has his first ever losing season. Ironic that starting his two sons played a part in it.
