Around College Basketball

Come on, how many losses do they have? Losing to top teams should not be a positive metric.

Get used to it. All about the P2. This has been going on forever in football. The talking heads hype up the SEC and B!G in the preseason for these reasons. They cite strength of record as justification for mid records. Constantly thumping their collective chests about how tough the competition on their schedule is.

If they had it their way, over half the field would be from the SEC and B!G.

I think even us as a fan base is still selling our team short.

I think too many people have bought into these top teams being on a different level. The metrics are causing this and all the so called quad 1 opportunities etc…..I think a lot of those quad 1 games are inflated.

We are right there with them.

Posh had the chance to stick when Pitino became Coach . He chose not to stay .

Pitinio would have honed him into great shape and improved his game . Probably would have come off the Bench but ,gotten good minutes .

Didn’t understand why he didn’t follow Wusu to ten Hall but , I’m not sure why he went to Butler of all places and, then to Dayton .

Not to diminish Posh but, he wasn’t the Player that Ponds was for us .

A unfair comparison in my opinion .,

This morning I was surfing around YouTube To see some college basketball stuff. So yesterday CBS sports had a guy on who “predicted” a St. John’s/Marquette Under of 141. LOSS. An Auburn +8.5 to Alabama. Bama won outright in OT. LOSS. Then he “loved” Missouri over Kentucky. LOSS.

Just remember the Committee is made up of people just like this with absurd “metrics” full of bias with big money on the table. It is a completely flawed system that we have to live with. Last year with the Mountain West love which collapsed like ice sculptures on a hot beach in July was the fraud du jour. This year? Who knows.

Bottom line? Nobody knows. I expect to see the bias somewhere. That has become the theme of Selection Sunday.

Agree. Metrics should be used to break ties. I also may be in the minority on this, but a good or bad week in some tournament in November matters less to me that what you are now and what you have done since New Year's in the transfer portal era. Too much weight is put on games that don't truely reflect what teams are now. I understand that the full body of work needs to be considered, but i think too much weight is placed on a part of the season where most teams are not yet developed.

You won’t find a bigger Shamorie fan than me, but I don’t think you can put the version of him we saw here on any team and they would get better. I think he was meant to get massive usage on a team that was just inside or outside of the bubble. Maybe Pitino whipped him into shape here and had him playing hard on defense. Ponds’ hands were so good he even made Kadary look like he had casts on both hands.

In shape Posh could make any team better IMO because of how much of a demon he is on defense and the glass. The kid could cover 4’s and bang down low and was one man press on the full court.

I agree. Look at Marquette, they were great early with a group of players in the system with four years, only to sputter late.

We would all feel good about SJU’s chances in a mini tournament with Baylor, Virginia, and Georgia now.

This also makes rating conferences based on Nov/Dec play annoying. I watch enough games to see the SEC is better, but it is a little silly to base things off of those games.

It'd be fun/better if we moved some conference games to late Nov/early Dec, and had some of those challenges in February.

His Freshman year was amazing especially the game at home (no fans) vs Nova. All speculation but Posh didn’t want to play for Rick and maybe Rick didn’t want him back. He decided to go to AC and came up Snake Eyes.
Can’t change the past hopefully 🙏 Louie Is pulling some favors upstairs and this team has nine more!

Agree. Common sende should be added to these nonsense metrics. I am sending my resume to the committee and demanding I head the common sense aspect of the selection process.

And if the Johnnies win the BET, common sense says they are a 1 seed.

Big ten has coaching challenges this year. Only a matter of time till every conference has it.

These games are so entertaining. It is akin to teams in European domestic soccer leagues playing one another to avoid relegation.
Dance ticket for High Point is punched. Looks like a well coached, deep and athletic team capable of NCAA T win. What I enjoy is all their kids will not only remember getting there, but a win or two really makes it special.

For matchup sakes, they would be a fun matchup for a team like Alabama, who also likes to run it and shoot threes.

Matt Brady, who mopped up for Stubblefield last year, is an assistant there now.
