Around College Basketball

Down goes Auburn!!!!!

Anyone know why they are not allowed to storm the court? I thought that was real strange.
Besides safety reasons? Same thing happened two weeks earlier at Missouri when their coach actually got on the PA address system and asked their fans not to do the same thing.
The SEC levies fines to the home school for fans “storming” the field or court. Storming the field or court as defined by the SEC is when the visiting team and/or game officials are still on the playing surface when fans enter the field or court of play.

The SEC does allow schools to adopt a policy allowing fans on the field or court after the opposing team and officials have safely made their way off of it.

The first offense for storming is $100,000, the second $250,000 and $500,000 for any subsequent violations after the second incident. The storming incidents and fines cover and carry over from sport to sport. Example, if your first incident was after a football game, and then the second was at after a basketball game, the school would be on the hook for $250,000 for the basketball incident as it was the second time in a school year. The fine is paid to the opposing school.

Rutgers lost by 18 at Oregon. They are now 12-14 overall. At this point, they may not even qualify for the NIT.

Gives me a smile, because of my strong dislike for that program.

The worst team money could buy.

It’s hard to believe that RU with 2 likely lottery picks is just awful .

Harper and Bailey are youngsters and the NBA looks at potential , and often discards accomplishment . They have good stats but., at what price to their Team’s lack of success .

Also., would seem to support Pitino’s commentary that some HS players aren’t ready for the Portal Era , playing against 23 -24 year olds .

Obviously both , Harper and Bailey have skills but , Rutgers hasn’t benefitted .

I have not watched Rutgers this year.

Are these two freshman not playing team ball ore the issues that the rest of roster is just weak or Piekell just not coaching well?

Iowa State losing last night is a big help for us. I firmly believe if the season ended right now we’d be the last 2 seed. At worst we’re a 3 seed.

It was 500k as they stormed the football field after they beat Alabama in football, which was the first 250k...keeps going up with each infraction!
Funniest part was the Announcer saying Coach Buzz was wildly gyrating to stop the storming because they needed the NIL. Crazy but true. 500k is real money for anyone!

Even worse, they have three good freshman, because the kid that Panther liked more than Cliff is having a nice freshman season for a major conference big man.

The two top freshman on Rutgers are projected to go #2 and #3 in the Draft. At least according to NBA Tankathon. Clearly there is a lot of “projection” on these guys because one would think if they were Uber talented they could get to at least .500.

Last night felt like their entire team laid down. Just goes to show how these kids are no longer allowed to develop in the NIL era. Pitino isn’t even recruiting High School. The emphasis is on older more experienced players.

I'm not sold on Bailey being a stud in the NBA. Then again, I barely watch the NBA so maybe he's exactly what they want.

I'd be way more confident in picking Harper.

That said, both should take out large insurance policies and enter portal.

Bailey/Harper aren't the issue for Rutgers.

Bailey is an incredible prospect and would've been the #1 pick without question last year. Turned 18 in August, 6'10" and athletic/long, and averages 17/7 in Big Ten play. He had quite the heater in January, shooting 49% from 3 in eight league games.

Having watched more than a few Rutgers games, their issues are: maxing out their NIL with Bailey/Harper, lack of continuity/skill/high-major experience around them, and defense (ranked #150). They constructed their roster like a NBA team where you think having two superstars will win you the day, but its relatively clear that most of their guys should be in A-10 and below. You just can't win in the NCAAs like that.

I’m all in on Bailey being an absolute STUD in the League… u can see the promise of his skill and once his body develops with an NBA regime…dude will be a problem
