Temple President John Fry said the university is “reassessing its football program following the firing of its head coach,” according to Ryan Mulligan of the PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL. The news comes amid speculation that the program “could be on the chopping block.” Temple is in a “difficult position” to turn the struggling program around, with rampant realignment and new NIL rules reshaping college football. New NIL rules have “disproportionately benefitted well-backed athletic programs whose donors are willing to shell out millions of dollars to recruit top players,” creating a “larger gap between powerhouse programs and the rest of the NCAA.” Fry said that Temple’s BOT is “currently leading an analysis on the school's athletics, including football,” that he “expects to see soon.” The program has had a losing record in each of the past five seasons. Fry previously “extolled the benefits of not devoting resources to a football program” during his time as President of Drexel Univ., penning a 2016 op-ed in the Wall Street Journal titled "We're Glad We Say No to College Football” (PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL, 11/22).

Interesting.

Temple doesn't have their own stadium. They play in same place Eagles play. They only averaged 13K+ home attendance.

Don't think we need their basketball. Maybe they go to A-10 if they drop down or cut football. Doubt they cut it fully if at all
