Around College Basketball 25-26

Two mid major program’s survival strategies;

Bonaventure will be competitive as long as coach Mark Schmidt coaches at Bonaventure.

Schmidt is a very good coach who wins in cowtown Olean New York with mediocre A10 talent.

Schmidt has declined the opportunity to interview at a number of P5 schools.

Hard to believe the destruction of PAC 12 in short amount of time.

If Memphis can't figure out a way into a power league in the next few years - and there's no imminent realignment moves expected at that level - there's likely to be a further exploration of some type of split conference affiliation.

Pac-12 officials have discussed, per sources, Memphis coming on as a football-only member. This idea was made public in reports in the fall by USA Today. The rest of that athletic department's sports would go to the Big East. This would allow Memphis to maximize basketball revenue against strong competition and save on the travel of nonrevenue sports going out West.”

We better make the buyout absolutely prohibitive.

I'm a bit torn on Memphis, lots of issues including football, academics, etc... but if the Big East, Fox, NBC, etc. think they're worth it (along with a massive buyout), then great. They'd have some of the highest NIL in the conference, along with a higher ceiling than the average Big East school. Most years they'd probably be right behind the conference leaders UConn, Nova, and St. John's (ha!). Similar to a Creighton IMO, but they've been held back by their conference.

If the non-P5 schools can all do do-overs on their conferences, and the Big East could pick the first 12 schools, I am sure Memphis would be one of them. I think it'd be a good fit, as long as they don't dilute the revenue money like you said.
