Any Update on Coach Lavin?

 Big east hasn't done any dismantling. Big East just swapped some programs. Gathers has nothing to worry aout with the big east for the remainder of his career. Cuse, WVU and Pitt will be here the next few seasons and then replaced by UCF, Houston and SMU. Big East still has a ton of top excellent programs here. .

Vitoria's Secret hasn't done any dismantling, They just swapped some models. Giselle Bündchen, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Marisa Miller will just be replaced by Totie Fields, Phyllis Diller, and Kathy Bates. Nothing to worry about. Same fine quality swimwear and they still have that nice glossy catalogue. Hardly a dismantling.

It wasn't a dismantling. Losing those 3 schools should hardly effect Gathers at all, no? No doubt we subbed them for 3 sucky basketball programs, but the league far from dismantled just yet.

The BE remains a viable league but much less attractive with Pitt, SU, and WV gone. Frankly, that fact combined with Lavin's health, you can't blame the kid for keeping his options open.

As far as the three departing BE schools, Pitt has always had bad memories for me. Khem Birch left because Pitt was leaving the Big East. It was the only reason he chose Pitt over Kentucky.
West Virginua? Please! Morgantown? Please! Why every recruit St. John's talks to mentions wanting to play in Morgantown one day......kind of a bucket list wish! And Bobby Bear......he is always one drink away from rehab!
Now Syracuse....that is a whole different animal! Playing in the "Dome" an intimate football stadium with endless field of vision issues, two feet of snow outside and having Bernie Fine's wife for after game sex will never be the same!

Now on to the new members......Texas......the purdyiest girls I have ever seen! BBQ and Lone Star long necks! NO SNOW!
Central Florida.....NO SNOW! So many options flying to Orlando instead of Syracuse or Morgantown ! And....better hotels!

Do not knock Kathy Bates!!! She has a better ass than Giselle!

Finally, with SMU, the Big East tournament will have cornered the market on Methodist fans in the tri-state! Even the ones that are not basketball fans will want to take their kids to see old SMU....like the Irishmen that all root for Notre Dame......even though they suck!

I would have preferred hearing Lav went to visit Jarnell Stokes to convince him he would be an immediate starter in two weeks and not guess about 2012.
Two weeks ago Lav said six new recruits, this week 5, next week I hope we do not hear four. Got to keep after the uncommitted because you never know what kid decides to depart or gets injured. Lav needs to go after 7 or 8 players and Gathers has to be the #1 priority. Obekpa and his African running mate should be the second priority.

hadn't seen this posted yet. not sure who the five would all be aside from hoepfully Gathers and Sampson.
 
According to the pregame quotes, Lavin was a suprise guest at pratice today, FWIW. Didn't say anything about tomorrow, though. My guess is that coach will wait and see how he feels tomorrow before making a decision. 
 
If i had a dollar for every non SJU person that has said to me that Lavin is resigning, he is not doing well etc. At first I kind of blew it off to negative recruiting etc. But now they seem to be getting more and more detailed. Like he is resigning and will be asst coach the rest of the year and Cluess is the new coach next year. Anybody hear anything? First and foremost how is his health. That is the most important thing.

His health is fine. He's said numerous times he's cancer free.
 
Cool, and I have spoken to many people close to the program and they have said the same. Annoying and getting very old listening to some idiots.

So I was talking to this guy...who knows this guy...
 
not quite like that but i hear u. Multiple people with the similar stories all in a 48 hr time frame. Just strange.  
 
I think people just like to talk and negative is so much jucier than positive........... 
 
 "enemies", opponents of St. John's must relish this stuff

but I do wonder what the timetable estimate is - unless I missed it in one of the posts…

if you're not sure about lavin's health...send him a stamped envelope with your address and maybe he'll send you a stool sample.
 
Coach has a disease that needs to be taken care of and that is what he is doing.  As far as players coming here or not coming here using his illness is a poor excuse. Then I guess no player should go to Texas A&M cause Coach Billy Kennedy has Parkinson's Disease. For that matter no women's player should go to Tennessee cause Coach Pat Summit has dementia. Why can't we all just let Coach Lavin do what his doctors are telling him and he will be back on his time.

In case you are wondering I am a former coach who has Parkinson's. I know what all three of the above are dealing with.
