 A friend who is in the sports industry in NYC, hit me with this over the weekend...."What's goin' on at St. John's.... lots of grumbling on the team..... players talking about leaving...things aren't good there....."

I told him he was all wet, that there wasn't anything going on at St. John's that I knew of anyway.

I guess I was wrong and he was right, anything else rumbling????

Given what we now know, if that is all there is, it seems to me to be addition by subtraction.

So long as it keeps to only this.

Would not surprise me if Lavin called a team meeting in the next few days.

It would be a smart move.

Maybe, it could've been a situation of "if he doesn't go then we'll go."

Possibly. Nuri's dissatisfaction was visible..

If so his departure could be a cure and we may see a more cohesive team out there against Fordham.

Hope that's all it is. Don't want to lose anybody else. We need a happy and cohesive team moving forward.  To credit Norm, he said " I want kids with character, not characters". Well Norm also recruited a few "characters" but for roost part the good character kids stayed an we made a nice little run with them last year. Gotta focus more on those types.

I have full faith in Steve calling the meeting and talking to the team. The guy has an innate ability to make you feel better about thing. On his WFAN interview with Fatcessa he instilled optimism in me. The guy has no sense of panic, at least publicly.

I think thats an interesting though about the players saying Nuri leaves or we leave. Makes sense because he doesn't seem like a good teammate.

Although this year is probably a wash, as long as everybody sticks around, we will have a nice core group moving forward.
 
It's pretty clear that there is something going on behind the scenes. The fact of the matter is that Nuri's leaving doesn't hurt as much from an on-the-court perspective as it does from a PR perspective. We were going to struggle this year with or without Nuri. The problem is to the casual fan/potential recruit, they see a rash of decommitments and now a transfer just 9 games into the season at St. John's and wonder what is up?

He was probably believing his own hype, and thought that he would be in the NBA with Lavin coaching him this year. Probably just paranoia on my part with all the bad news lately.

I am nervous that the other news is going to be that Lavin won't be coaching this year. It is just a hunch, but maybe the team has this info and this is why Nurideen decided to leave. He was probably believing his own hype, and thought that he would be in the NBA with Lavin coaching him this year. Probably just paranoia on my part with all the bad news lately.

Don't get me wrong, my friend (in NYC in sports industry) who knew something was up before I DID, didn't say anything about SL not coaching, but it sounded like he'd heard other unhappiness.

It's definitely not out of the question that we may get more bad news out of this. But until then, I don't want to speculate.

That quote was from jarvii, and within a couple of years did just the opposite.

If Lavin does not coach it will not be because of any surgery complications.

Yes, paranoia is a terrible thing. For what it's worth........there is no doubt that.......

We'll be just fine. I'm not into suspicion, paranoia, hidden schemes, black clouds, whatever. So much speculation.

On a positive note I just saw the baby photo to the right - what a terrific photograph and such a beautiful baby - belongs to a "Joe"! all the best
