New York Lightning targets

I don't know who this Angel Delgado (2014 | Troy, NY) is, but St. John's is supposedly taking a look at him - and Darrick Martin, who was reported to be out in Los Angeles, may have liked the gaudy numbers Delgado put up.

The 6'9" forward from the Dominican Republic shot 54% inside the arc (good) and put up an impressive performance on the glass - 13 rebounds per game, equally distributed between the offensive (6/ game - 23% of available offensive boards) and defensive (7/ game, 30% of available defensive rebounds).

That's monstrous against any competition. He plays his high school ball at Redemption Christian Academy in Troy.

Perhaps I will get to see him play this weekend as my sons will be playing in the Albany Spring Classic this weekend in Troy, New York.
I will certainly keep my eyes open.

4. Explaining Angel Delgado
I’ll admit it’s not easy to explain but Angel Delgado is a big-time rebounder, averaging 13 points and 12 boards at EYBL. I went to evaluate him and thought nothing of his rebounding in a contest only to learn he had 16! So enamored with his rebounding numbers, I needed to be sure they were accurate so I went to the source. The director of stats for the EYBL is Chris Jones. We looked at the guys at the table and checked their reliability. Jones himself went and watched a game to make sure. Turns out we learned one thing: Delgado is a helluva rebounder and the stats were correct. The native of the Dominican Republic stands at 6-foot-7 with long arms and a nice motor. That’s a start. So far in the EYBL, he has 44 offensive rebounds in nine games.

Delgado had something like 17 points and 18 rebounds vs. Team Texas. He might just be that under the radar recruit that can be productive for us. I hope we give him a serious look.

There is no way this kid will stay under the radar. The staff should be all over him.

@FinkelsteinNERR: Running EYBL numbers this AM: Angel Delgado got more rebounds per minute than any other player from northeast. Was 2nd in DR & 3rd in OR.

Today;

"Best Rebounder:

Angel Delgado, 6’9, 2014, NY Lightning

Delgado averaged 11.6 rebounds per game during the EYBL regular season and he got right back to business this morning in Charlottesville. In both quarters, Delgado used his strong upper body to grab rebounds on both ends of the court. If a missed shot came into his area, you can be sure that Delgado grabbed it."

“@jeffborzello: Angel Delgado was an absolute monster on the glass during EYBL -- has been a factor here too. Also continuing to advance his offensive game.”

Angel Delgado
Now for the opposite of a finesse big man, Delgado, the top rebounder from the Nike EYBL, hit his stride during the first session of games Friday. He went for 17 points and 10 rebounds. For the camp, he is averaging 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

“@jerrymeyer247: Have the Stephen Zimmerman v Cheick Diallo match up I wrote about today. Playing out to form. http://247sports.com/Article/Isaiah-Whitehead-Cheick-Diallo-Stephen-Zimmerman-at-Top-100-135196
