Anderson - is he really the guy ?

Johnny....I wasn't trying to insinuate anything nefarious. Having enjoyed the board for a long time, I have had many discussions and made several connections with fellow posters. For context, I was just wondering your screen name before the site changed over. If you prefer not to share, that's fine.

No problem, I have been accused of being everyone from Real Fan to Ray Liotta on this site so when someone questions who I am it’s usually in the form of an attack as you can see from other posts following yours. While I’ve been a Johnny fan for many years, there are always issues with any program but many on here don’t like to hear about them. Sorry if I came back at you a bit strong.

But still not disclosing. Got it.

while I certainly expressed my disappointment last year this time over the mass exodus of players whom I liked I often stated CMA is a smart guy in my opinion and wanted to see what would happen going forward.
Well this off season no one left , not 1 player. Transfers are at an all time high but yet we were not affected. The two players that left are off to play for pay somewhere in the world and hopefully in the NBA , which will only help CMA going forward.
The two players who Left were replaced by players of equal or potentially better quality and no CMA fills our last ship with a player that really feels a strong need going forward who may have big time potential. Recruiting is often about momentum and this off season we have created a great deal of positive momentum. Kudos to CMA and staff on a very productive last few weeks.
Hopefully we can have a good July and get a nice commitment or 2 for 2023. Bravo.

Totally agree RMN. I posted right after the season ended that I was looking for four things from the staff. The first two (keep most of the team intact and get at least two difference makers off the transfer market) are done. The third and most important ask (use the first two to have a successful season and make the dance) remains to be seen but I am way more optimistic than I was a month ago. I believe the last one (get two 2023 4 star recruits) will happen especially if we show some on the court success.

Unlike his two predecessors, CMA has recruited a full team with decent depth at every position.
Hoping we see the results of that depth on the floor next season.

I'll just add the caveat that with a full roster and only 2 seniors (and I'm not even sure about Nyiwe) I hope we won't expect all 11 to stay out of the portal next year. There is going to one or more that either are disappointed with their minutes in 22/23, potential minutes in 23/24 or just not sure this is the place for them. It continues to be astounding to me that no one entered the portal.

Bottom line is this, coach should be judged on how his team performs on the court and if they make the all important NCAA tourney. Recruiting and retaining players is an important aspect of the job but means nothing if the results on the court are not there. Hopefully the retention of players and the recruits translate into on court success thats why a wait and see approach must be maintained before we start erecting any more statues in Carnessecca arena.

This new crop of players and freedom of movement is cray cray. It's like herding cats just trying to keep a team together. The staff and the team must have some very good chemistry and vibes and therefore, the players are more likely to be committed to the process and style, having chosen to stay when that is so against the norm today.

As an aside, it also helps to counter the narrative put out by a disgruntled ex-employee that the players didn't like CMA during the off-season of our discontent in re the mass exodus and that CMA lost the team earlier during that season.
