Just out of curiosity does anyone know what happened to the Demeo lawsuit against SJU and Anderson? Haven't heard much since it was released? Speaking of lawsuits, any word on Anderson's lawsuit with the university? Heard on here from a poster (sorry I forgot who said it but I know its someone we all trust here) that Father saw one of Anderson's practice and was completely floored and shocked?

I’m no lawyer but , it’s likely there are tight lips on everyone with those law suits .

Typically , it’s “ we can’t comment on pending Court Cases.”

I’m all for getting paid. This guy never wants Coach again and seems like he would love nice house in Boca. The school has done folks dirty in the past but 45 million a little bit of a reach!

I was not a litigator but my understanding is that punitive damages are very- very difficult to receive for breach of contract.

I am pretty ignorant of law outside of educational law, and maybe booze laws. Also, the truth about what was going on behind the scenes at SJU last year has remained behind the scenes (which it should IMHO). That being said, 46.5 seems ridiculous, even for someone feeling jaded.

During a "hostile" phone call, per Anderson's legal filing, Joseph Oliva, the general counsel for St. John's, told one of the former coach's representatives that Anderson "did not in any way resemble the coach from the prior four years" and seemed "about gone" mentally.

Joe "Tha Deacon" Oliva strikes again!

Joe Oliva could not be

Lol yeah when I read the article that hit me

It is not unusual for large organizations to make moves and try to get out of paying severance or buyout packages by trying to create an adversarial reason for letting an individual go. This is a common business practice but clearly is not the ethical high road one would want in an organization they have worked for.

It is very good business for Employment lawyers. However for the person who goes through this it is typically an emotionally distressing and draining process, regardless of whether they wind up vindicated in the end or not. Many large organizations keep employment lawyers on retainer and just see this as a cost of doing business. Personally I do not admire these type of tactics and would hope that SJU has looked at themselves in the mirror and knows that it has taken the moral high ground here.
