gotta be related to the little vin cents in huntington. Oh man I love that pizza

Grimaldis personal pies in garden city with extra cheese, meatballs and onions is literally the prefect pizza

Grims GC is definitely better than Grims Brooklyn Heights! Brooklyn has that mean old bastard harassing the customers while in GC they welcome you with open arms.
BTW, you will never see a pizza with meatballs on it in Italy! LOL!

you know what ? when my girlfriend and I were in Italy a couple of years ago I didn't love the pizza. Had a slice in Venice at a touristy place that was real good but other than that nothing memorable. Now the wine and pasta a completely different story but th
e pizza itself didn't wow us

Need to go to the motherland of pizza, Naples. A simple pizza margherita there will change your life.

Yes the Little Vincent's in Ronkonkoma and the one in Huntington have the same owner. Two of my daughters worked there as teenagers and would be deployed where needed.

the new Gloria's next to midway movie theater in forest hills
the owner brought back original recipe fr. flushing main street famous Gloria's pizza joint

I wonder if there would be any consensus as to what actually belongs on a pizza. To me, there is no question that pineapple or other fruit, barbecued chicken, jalapenos, and other abominations simply adulterate pizza.

Fresh Tomato, fresh mozzarella (buffalo mozzarella is preferred) , and basil. All thin crust. No deep dish sham.

Thst is a true pizza.

Pepperoni, sausage, and meatballs but as my wife points out, I am Irish so what do i know. I grew up on Ragu :ngrin:

Alfredo - any good pizza places around Rockville Centre, my new hood (we've enjoyed both Nick's and Dodici)?

The only positive about Nick's is it has a true brick oven that cooks up good but not great pizza but the amateur wait staff detracts from the eating experience.
Blue Moon is better for both service and dinners.....the pizza is good.
Micelli may not have the 800degree brick oven but it is very good NY style pizza.
A lot of pubs in RC for beer and chicken fingers though! LOL!
BTW, best Asian in RC is Wild Ginger.

Sorry I am no help. After my dad sold his restaurant, Cafe' Riviera about 6 years ago, (the new owners renamed the place Cielo, if it is still there), I haven't been around that part of the world. Although Dodici was good from what I remember. We were competitors for Italian food (including individual pizza).

The baked ziti slice at Di Raimos in huntington is real good.

If anyone knows of a great slice of Sicilian let me know. The best I ever had was at " Delicious Pizza " in Glen Cove when I was a kid them they sold it and the new owner f'd it up and when one of the sons opened up a new one like 10 years later it was never the same

Best Sicilian slice I know of now is Colosseo in Port Jefferson. However the best Sicilain used to be right on the corner of Utopia and Union near St. John's. It was the old John's Pizza which also was a big supporter of the team.
Slices before and after the game were great. I used to bring whole Sicilain pies home. Sadly it closed and was remodeled by the new owners. I asked later when eating there what happened and the woman owner told me
"how could you like that pizza" "the place was dirty" I didn't care the Sicilain was great and blew away her clean pizza. Needless to say I didn't go to there for pizza anymore. I remember eating pizza with Ron Plair from the team there, Most of the players used to go there, On a side note, never cared for Looie's favorite Dante's pizza.

I know it will be hard to believe but we found a small pizza place in Bottom's Bridge, Va. Had the best pizza we have ever eaten; my sons and daughter couldn't believe it until they visited and agreed.

I have to try Colosseo's Sicilian. Haven't been able to best Umbertos in New Hyde Park for Sicilian. Time for a showdown.

Very interesting paesano! My wife and I have been to Cielo and thought the food was good but it appeared a little too stuffy for a southern Italian with the uniformed waiters....LOL! I don't remember your dad's place but I am sure it was better than Cielo. Most times I am in RC I am in an Irish Pub whose owner is good friends with my bro-in-law called Blackthorn and for food we go across the street to Monaghan's. It is right next to the RC LIRR station.

I've had both many times. Colleseo's is much better. The place only sells pizza. No dishes and 4 types of pizza only. It is nearly impossible to get in there on a Friday or Saturday night.

Oneils of maspeth had great brick oven pizza in back of resturant & it burnt down last yr in may
George said the place will reopen with rooftop beer garden in december  :woohoo:
