Amar Transfers

Good luck to Amar. He played hard for us in some difficult times.

The team is now Coach Mullin's team. I have a lot of faith that he is the right man at the right time for the job. I do think what he does with the "open" scholarships will play a pivotal role in where this goes. I think in the past we might give these spots to players who were reaches for the Big East level. If the right kid is not there I hope we might find a transfer or graduate transfer for a year. I'll trust that they have the plan. We need to build a foundation brick by brick.

Didn't get a chance to say it earlier but I am really disappointed that he is leaving. Just seemed like a real good kid the type of kid that even really great programs can use even if not for major minutes,

I really wish him well and Godspeed,

Sorry to see him leave. He seems like a good kid who really wants to compete. He gave it his all when on the court and seems like a good teammate. If he could only have gotten his 3 pt. shot to fall more consistently he could have gotten more PT. With rumors that Jones may be leaving too we are in danger of being a little thin up front next year. I'm sure the staff is looking to bring in more frontcourt players.

The kind of kid every coach wishes they had. A classy hustler! Best of luck wherever you land.

Yes,good kid good heart team player wish him the best for himslef but lets remember I know its college but the way things are its a business. We are losing little offensive and defensive productivity and hopefully staff replaces him with a more talented player that better helps the future of our program

Hopefully this transfer works out for both sides. Amar goes to a program where he gets plenty of minutes and SJU gets a player who can compete in the Big East.

Check out Amar's twitter account. The kid has retweeted every kind thing said about him.

Just two weeks ago Amar tweeted thanks to the departing seniors and was looking forward to next season. Guessing staff met with him and advised him to get some run it would be better done elsewhere. There may have been kids as nice as him, and as proud as him to wear the SJU uniform and attend the school, but none nicer or prouder. Hope we haven't seen the last of him, and hope that he finishes his collegiate career strong.

I agree, Amar had an intangible that I appreciate. He was a "team first" guy. It certainly doesn't hurt to have them around. While I do think he had a limited ceiling, I would have been happy to keep Amar.

I will look for the staff to bring in guys that have greater potential than Amar and Jones. #Hopeful.

Don't like seeing Amar leave... and really don't want to see Jones leave.

That said, if this is being pushed by the staff I trust they know what they're doing. Best of luck to Amar I'll remember his shots from the Syracuse game.

There's a big difference between being "pushed by the staff" and being told, in honest terms, what your role will likely be on next year's team
Some kids are fine with getting little or limited playing time, others aren't
Kudos to Amar. CJ or anyone else who wants to have a bigger role on their team
I thank them for their contributions to St John's and wish them well in the future

I also am disappointed to see him and Jones leave. Amar a great attitude. Jones ,only 1 year investment and improving. I could understand it if they were replaced by players significantly better.

Maybe and hopefully they will be replaced by better players. With 13 schollies and last place team not much room right now for guys that staff must believe have not shown they will deserve PT going forward. Granted you can't play 13 but we need guys that have the potential to beat out the Ellisons and Mussinis for PT.

Not disagreeing. I.E. If they get Livingston and he is a better player than Jones,I can see it. But for now he transfers to have to sit, they should be 4 star caliber players, only so many scholis to go around.

I doubt they were actually "pushed out", it's just easier to type that. The only time players are really pushed out is if scholarships are limited and there's a surefire recruit about to sign which I doubt is the case. Regardless, whatever terminology is used, whether they were "pushed out" or told they wouldn't have a large role, the underlying sentiment is the same. Either way the staff didn't see them as being significant contributors next year. I wasn't expecting Amar to have a large role, however I'm surprised by the Jones rumor. I thought he'd be getting a decent amount of minutes considering how he played towards the end of the year and his overall improvement. Again, I trust the staff knows what they're doing I'm just surprised by that.

I liked both these guys and sad to see them go. CJ showed great improvement last year, he was a different player at the end of the year and developed a nice 15 foot jumper. The game also slowed down for him. I see him getting major minutes next year if he stays.
