Amar Transfers

Have nothing against either of the kids. Seemed to me that especially Amar always had a great attitude and Jones showed some flashes for sure. Good luck to both. But it should be celebrated that, atleast by my count, this means we have eradicated the roster of Lavin players for next year. Woooo

Good luck to a good guy. Would be great if he stays local.

Best of luck to Amar who was a good teammate and representative of the University. I guess we will all remember his contribution during the Syracuse game, which is proving to be a bigger win for the program than we ever could have imagined.
I hope he finds a proper home. Always questioned why he was originally brought in.
Not much of a question. Lavin poor job recruiting and a European vacation.

Nothing but best wishes to Amar, wherever he ends up. Gave us his best effort and a great attitude through a couple of tough seasons. Would have liked him to stay, but can't blame him for chasing a chance to play a bigger role elsewhere.

I know this is the way the college hoops world works now, but I'm really bummed that Amar is transferring out....he seemed like a great teammate and always seemed to be excited to be here.....i really hope he ends up in a great situation for him and has fond memories of his time at SJU.....

By all accounts a great kid and a great teammate. Had some shining moments which we got to enjoy and which I'm sure he'll always treasure. Look forward to seeing where he lands and tracking his progress. I wish him the best and thank him for his time here.

Like most of you, I really liked this kid. Great attitude. He loved the university and touted it constantly. When not in the game he was the first off the bench to support teammates. Enormous wingspan, and he knocked down a few more threes in game situations this year. If he goes to a mid major, he could get some serious run and score some points.

He will have a future overseas, and I hope he looks back on his SJU experience fondly. Despite a less than stellar career, our fans noticed what a great kid he is, and he will be remembered well.

Amar was a great "rah rah" guy. I'll always remember him waving a towel on the bench to support his teammates. He played the same way - with great energy and enthusiasm

Thank you, Amar, for your contributions to our program. Wishing you the very best of luck in finding a new school that will provide you with the opportunity to play and flourish.

We will miss you at St John's

Amar's tweet:

"Had a great time these past 2 years playing for an incredible program. Learned a lot and won't give up on my dreams. Will never forget what the people have done for me here at St. Johns. This school and city will always have a special place in my heart."

CLASSY GUY......I will miss him....

loved Amar's enthusiasm. Best of ;luck to him in the future.

As you go down the food chain from the highest level college basketball to low D2 and D3 competition, the time and space you get to square up for a 3 point shot increases measurably. I could see a guy like Amar at the right level knocking down a lot of threes, especially with smaller guards defending the perimeter.

With his enthusiasm for SJU and our city, perhaps some day Amar in the future will be trolling gyms in Europe to send kids to our school. He certainly used social media to expand on what a great place SJU is to play for a European player.

Thank you Amar for your hard work and dedication these past two years. Best of luck in the future!
