All Time Starting 5

I have been posting on this site for a few weeks now, and reading comments for much longer than that. I've quickly realized that alot of Posters are very knowledgeable about the game of basketball and have been following the Redmen for decades. With that said: I am curious to see who many of you would pick for your "All Time Starting 5" . The only rule is keep it to players you have actually watched. ( So if you were born in 87' like I was, dont have Chris Mullin as your starting Shooting guard)

MY 5
PG Erik Barkley
SG Marcus Hatten
SF D.J. Kennedy
PF Ron Artest (World Peace)
C Lamont Hamilton

Honorable Mention- Dwight Hardy, Showtime, Harkless and Harrison.

PG Mark Jackson
SG Chris Mullin (although I he was a SF)
F Malik Sealy
F Ron Artest
F Walter Berry

I saw George Johnson at the 5 but I didn't really have a good appreciation of his game.

Mullin had one of the greatest jumpers in the history of the game and was an incredibly smart player.
Berry was a gifted player. He could score on anyone and had a great handle for a big man. The only thing he lacked was range on his jumper.
Jackson over-achieved more in college and the NBA than any player we ever had. He had good talent but made himself a great player. He had fantastic court vision and was an incredible passer.

I picked my favorite players and gave them a position. I am sure they can make it work.

PG Mark Jackson
SG Chris Mullin
SF Ron Artest
PF Malik Sealy
C Walter Berry

Bench
Boo Harvey
Erik Barkley
D'angelo Harrison
Felipe Lopez
Charles Minlend
Zendon Hamilton
Jayson Williams
Bill Wennington

If I have to fill a team of 5 by traditional positions I'd go with:
1) Jackson
2) Mullin
3) Sealy
4) Berry
5) Ty Grant (surprised?)

rest of my team
Postell
Singleton
Barkley
Harvey
Minlend
Jayson
David Cain (senior season was amazing)
I gotta put Glover in here for @ about 6'4 manhandling 7 footers

Highest BB IQ team:
Mullin, Singleton, Barkley, Jackson, Bootsy

My All Heart team:
Postell, Singleton, Glover, Minlend, Brust

FIRST TEAM
F Jayson Williams
F Sealy
F/C Berry
G Hatten
G Mullin

2ND TEAM
F Artest
F Jayson
C Wennington
G Goodwin(personal favorite)
G Jackson

HONORABLE MENTION
Bootsy
Postell
Harvey(Boo and Dwight)
Russell
Carter
James Scott

I started SJU in 58 so most of my picks have not been seen by many.
Seiden
Mullin
Tony Jackson
Leroy Ellis
Sealy
The stats of Seiden, Jackson and Ellis are not as impressive as some of the more recent players because freshmen were ineligible and colleges played much fewer games. This group played approx. 75 games.
One telling stat is Jackson averaged over 15 rebounds a game in his first year and Ellis averaged 16 as a senior.

Again, this is just since I've been watching. Say '89 on

Hardy
Barkley
Sealy
Jayson Williams
Shawnelle Scott

2nd team, but without positions
Cain
Bootsy
Hatten
Artest
Felipe

Honorable mentions
Z Hamilton
Werdann

Can't believe I'm the first to mention Hardy. His 2010 season was fantastic. Could've been BE POY

In the last decade:

PG: Hardy
SG: Harrison
SF: Kennedy
PF: Harkless
C: Burrell

First 4 off the bench: Lamont Hamilton, Paris Horne, Justin Brownlee, Mike Cavataio

pg-Cook
sg- Hatten
sf- Hardy
pf-DJ
c- Harkless
all those guys played at those positions at one point or another im sure.

6th Harrison
7th Brownlee

My team would be of guys that won often and especially performed in big games. I am from the class of 59.Some of the guys I remember foundly are:
Mullin
Mark Jackson
George Johnson
Tony Jackson
Reggie Carter
David Russell
Al Seiden
Gus Alfeari
Walter Berry
Kevin Loughery
Leroy Ellis
Boo Harvey
Mark Jackson
Frank Allagia
Mel Davis
Billy Schaeffer
I am sure I am missing some, but these are the guys who knew how to win.My team would not include someone a losing team or subpar team

Steve Lavin's all-time starting five

G: Jon Scheinman
G: Ron DeQuiroz
C: Phil Missere
F: Khadim Ndiaye
F: Jamal White

I am leaving off one-hit wonders (like David Cain and Dwight Hardy), lots of my personal favorites (like Marcus Hatten, Charles Minlend, Anthony Glover and Matt Brust) to try to put together a team that actually works structurally. Some guys are slightly out of position, but it's workable.

PG: Boo Harvey, Mark Jackson
SG: Chris Mullin, Bootsy Thonton
C: Jayson Williams, Tyrone Grant
PF: Walter Berry, Ron Artest
SF: Malik Sealy, Lavor Postell
