After 2 exhibition games

I am impressed by Sanchez (especially his quickens and ball control + he can hit the 3 ball)
Ggift is playing much more aggressive. Hopefully he will do as good with good competition.
Jordan has not impressed me just yet. But i do believe the hype. Love his calm demeanor.
Pointer is a freak of nature. Most energetic and athletic. Very happy he's on our side.
I have a feeling Branch improved and will keep on improving.
Harrison looks like a reformed player. Bundle of energy. Still think he forces 3's when not needed.
Hooper is still a mystery to me. Hitting shots in practice is not the same as game time. Can't create his own shot and his defense is very suspect. I do not see him playing much.
French man is not a Big East caliber player. Wishing him all best but don't have anything good to say about his play.
Greene will not give up his minutes lightly (Branch, Jordan) he will fight for it and i have a feeling that there will be games where we love him or hate him.
Jakarr 2 most athletic player with a great creativity going to the basket. Same like Greene one day on one day off.
Not ready for NBA.
We have not seen Obekpa but he looks like he gained some muscle which is a plus.

What about Rysheed hasn't impressed you? He's 8-10 out there.

If Hooper is still a mystery, then why do you think he won't help much? Sounds like an oxymoron.

Rysheed has been extremely impressive. I don't know what some people have been watching? Hooper's defense was just fine. He communicates well, rarely got beat and made shots when presented to him. He doesn't have to be able to create his own shot to help us. Lots of great shooters out there are set-shooters and not playmakers.

Liquid, Rysheed has been the only "complete" player on the team these two games. If he took every shot presented to him like Sampson or Harrison he would have a ton of points......but that is not his game.
Jakarr has not been "creative", he has been anything but! Long shots, no sharing the ball, out of position, etc. If not using your noodle is creative then pigs fly.
I just hope Obekpa is learning something from Gift who does not wander 30 feet from the basket and collected a ton of garbage last night.

After two exhibition games I worry when our coach is already hedging and making excuses for players he has had for 2-3 years:

"That’s part of the fun and part of the concern, there’s so many unknowns with this team,” said coach Steve Lavin. “This is just a total mystery. There’s just so many factors that we’re trying to bring together and that’s why I think it’ll be probably mid-January, February, before we really find our stride. But I think we can surprise people along the way. I think we might be better than some people think.”

THIS IS A TOTAL MYSTERY???

Calling on on Fun!

After two exhibition games, I am just glad there isn't a third and the regular season can finally start.

I can't wait for our first loss. The board should be a doozy after that.

Here is one thing I have learned on this site. Win or lose, there will be some that will find something to bitch about.

That sums it up.

I've found that to be the case on the majority of message boards. Whatever makes people tick.

IMO, I don't see a reason to nitpick about everything. A message board is a place to discuss opinions, and not a place for half-baked opinions for people who wanna convey it as fact or truth. I think some folks are looking for a blog, rather than a message board. I'm not talking about anyone in particular, but generally speaking.

After the 2 exh games I think it's clear the rotation will include Green, Branch, Jordan , Harrison, Dom, Sanchez, Opbeka, GG, Sampson - that is 9. It's tough to have a rotation with 10 or 11. So Hooper and Marco seem to be the 2 that will see limited action. Thoughts?

I hope that certain players are used based on opponent's strength's and weaknesses. That may change as the season progresses.

In all of the exh games including in Europe Hooper got a lot of PT

I think Hooper is going to get some burn, even if it means cutting into some of Greene's and Branch's minutes. How much burn? Yet to be determined. But I feel he'll get minutes.

Once Hooper burns a team on a trey or two, then things will open up for us (ie, more room for the guards to drive and space for post players).

If Obekpa played his normal 25 mins last night where would GG get his mins from? There's just not a lot to go around. And keep in mind Jakarr was on the bench for most of the game, that's not normally going to be the case. If Jakarr and Orlando play 35 and Obekpa another 25, there just isn't room for GG.

I know today's not the day to pick on GG, and I admit he looked good, but there just isnt room for him to play more than 5min a game on a regular basis.

I noticed he played a lot in Europe, Saturday he didnt play well, and last night he hit a few 3's in garbage time . My gut feeling is once conference play starts Lavin will shorten his rotation to 9

That's my point about Hooper and Marco too, I don't see them getting many minutes. Orlando and Sampson will not play 35 but i see you point about GG , he is the 4th option up front. 7 or 8 mins a game.

Sanchez and Sampson won't be seeing 35 mins/game so that should help out Obekpa. I say he gets 15-20 a game and splits with GG. I think GG will be playing a lot more at the end of close games because of free throws.
