(AdvoCare Invitational) Oregon St., Thur. Nov. 23, 2p, ESPNU, 970 AM

Excellent comeback win!!! Hopefully Yakwe can build of this game. We are going to need him

Very frustrating first 32 minutes, missing all kinds point blank shots. Ahmed fouling out was a plus (although I give him props for knocking down a big 3). Clark's 3 was a no, no, no, no,YES. Ponds 26, LoVett 18, but the game ball should go to Yakwe. Good win today, will make the turkey go down a lot easier.

On a separate note I was really impressed when OS coach pulled his player and Lovett over while I think Ponds was taking ft's and basically told them both to calm down and just play. I dont know if I've seen that before but it was real nice to see

Awesome play by Yakwe and Ponds/Lovett were strong down the stretch as expected. Season changing win, gotta take care of Mizzou now then we will be playing with house money on Sunday, possibly with a chance to be ranked or close to it.

Bashir has to reel it in, the team looks so cohesive until he gets the ball. I say it to myself every game and if it hasn’t changed to this point it likely won’t. Did make a crucial 3 before fouling out though.

Yakwe came up big, including the FT line. Hope he can build on it. Still too much 1 on 1 for my old bones, but love the resolve to pull one out. Loving the 5-0 start.

Good win. The first 30 minutes was a Struggle. Got to give it the kids they never quit and they kept competing. When this team doesn’t turn the ball over (only 6) we can win games. Kudos too Yakwe really stepped up. Shooting 86 % from the charity line and 14 steals helps also.

Nice!
Let’s go St.Johns!!!

Very tough game to watch. My BP has been spiking lately, so I'd walk off, do chores and peak back at the TV and/or check the score on my cell phone. But a gritty win for a young, very talented, young (to repeat!) SJU team!
IF some of Ponds' spinning / off balance 'layups' ever go in--the kid will be All-World. As it is, too much 'english' on those 'shots'.
Great Yakwe came up big in spots.

This is game that StJohn's would have lost last year.

There’s something to be said about winning close games and reaching into the gas tank at the end.

Great win, as we start off 2-0 against power 5 teams. Best game Yakwe has played since his freshman season, which is good to see. The thing I’m really impressed with is the rebounding and defense against Nebraska and OSU. Two bigger teams that didn’t kill us on the boards. The defense looked good for 80% of the game, really putting the pressure on and forcing some bad shots. Those are the reasons, along with turnover margin, that we are 5-0. When Ponds breaks out of this shooting slump, this team will be even better.

This was an impressive win! To think we won without Amar Alibegovic and Bashir not having a good game (as usual) we should all be very happy this Thanksgiving.

Coming into this tourney, most of us would have taken 2 out of 3. Can't imagine worse than that at this point. Have always thought biggest keys to this year are more consistency from Ahmed, Owens staying out of foul trouble, and Yakwe getting back to freshman year level. I continue to have faith Yakwe will get there. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Agree. Wasn't happy with some of the play and hope that Ponds finds his outside shot soon. Don't know whether we will ever get Ahmed to play within the flow of the game. But think it is important for our success. When he shoots in rhythm he is good. However, I don't think he can create for himself.

With that said, this was a good win against a team that is probably as talented as us in many respects.
