Advice to Harkless

Don' t go pro yet. There not going to give you the respect untill you play for a winning team. Omar Cook left from a losing team and did not get any respect and was never able to play in the NBA

I don't think he should go simply because I don't believe he is ready. As much as I love Moe's game, there are plenty of areas to improve for where he is going to play at the next level. I think if he comes back next year and makes that jump, he will be a lottery pick as a sophomore or junior. But regardless, I thank him for a terrific season, and have no doubt that he, Lavin, Nate Blue and others will decide what is best.

Mo should go when he's ready. Could he leave now? Certainly. One more year would probably be a little bit better for his draft status and his game. Would never fault the kid for going though. Lavin and staff want future pro's on the roster an that's what you'll get. Hopefully Lavin can replace them, that's all.

If your program depends on one player, then you got no program. If Mo go, wish him well. Is he a PF in the NBA? He's not getting to the rim from 15 feet out, which is his offense now.  He can't shoot a lick. He did play a real nice PF for a 200lb freshman.

I'll certainly wish him well, and it looks good for the program, if he goes in the first round. He has a pretty decent mid-range game, but he hasn't shown he can consistently shoot it from deep. Quite frankly, I think he'll eventually be a pretty decent deep shooter.

I believe he needs another season, and I think he might be inclined to stay another season, if we bring in a solid class. Otherwise, he might bolt.

I also agree with MainMan.... It might be kinda tough for us, if Harkless were to depart.

According to NBADraft.net, which is usually close with their draft predictions, he's not even projected for the first OR second round. It would be very risky for him to leave, and I just can't see it happening.

*Edit, I stand corrected, I see him now at number 15. Wow

Draft Express (Jonathan Gilvony) on Twitter was saying with certainty that this was Moe's last game.

Who the hell knows.

the sad part is IF some team would want to draft him he would be riding the pine for a few years i think. he's not physically matured yet and his game needs a lot of work. 6 8 small fowards are a dime a dozen. he needs to improve his shot and ball handling for starters. he's not going to get that sitting on an an nba bench

My advice to Harkless would be to declare for the NBA draft, but do NOT sign with an agent by any means. Play against the top competition out there and assess where your game is at then. If he starts hearing his name as a potential lottery pick and if a team guarantees him that he won't fall past a certain spot in the draft, then he'd be foolish to stay at St. John's. There will be too much money on the line for him to ignore. But if you see draft experts projecting him in the latter half of the first round or as an early second round pick, I think he'd be absolutely foolish to leave.

Based on the talent level we've all seen this entire season, he is most likely going to wind up being one of the elite players in college basketball next season. And if he rounds out his outside shot and gains a few extra pounds, he has the potential to be one of the best players ever to play at STJ. But at the end of the day, he has to go through the draft process and make the decision that he is most comfortable with.

Moe is not ready for the NBA. Most NBA defenses would eat him alive at this point especially without a consistent 20 foot jump shot. During Lav's interview today he said that next year's recruits may be his best recruiting class ever......hope that is not just his medication talking......if so, Moe will finally have a supporting cast which can only improve his game and raise his stock.
Moe seems like a bright guy, if so No 4 is back next season.

Anyone have Omar's cell # to give to Moe?

To me it's clear. Leave now and ride the bench in the NBA as a 10th or 11th man for a year and then bounce around Europe, or stay in college for another year or two and become a millionaire.

Hopefully Moe is getting good advice from smart people.

I believe he can't "test" the waters...the new rule is you have to give your word either way a week after the final four. so if he says he is leaving, he must leave. he can't change his mind...it used to be different, however that's how it is now

Pretty much what I'm thinking. The average player in the NBA is a monster. Does anyone here think of Mo in those terms?

Yeah, 100% right. He can't "test the waters". Must go or stay on whatever he chooses after the final four concludes

“I’m going to sit down and talk to my coaches and talk to my family,” Harkless said. “I don’t know what I’m going to do yet That’s every kid’s dream, to go to the NBA. But I’ve still got to sit down with my coaches and my family.”

I think that the new rule is stupid. Basically tou are asking an 18-19 yr old kid to make his decision on his future in a couple of weeks. I've been out of college for almost 30 years and still havent made up my mind on my career. Well I guess that is another reason I am not the biggest fan of the NBA.

Hopefuly Mo will get good advice from family and the coaching staff. If he stayed one more year he would dominate and become a definite lottery pick.

I agree, but it might help us out in this case.
