If your program depends on one player, then you got no program. If Mo go, wish him well. Is he a PF in the NBA? He's not getting to the rim from 15 feet out, which is his offense now. He can't shoot a lick. He did play a real nice PF for a 200lb freshman.
My advice to Harkless would be to declare for the NBA draft, but do NOT sign with an agent by any means. Play against the top competition out there and assess where your game is at then. If he starts hearing his name as a potential lottery pick and if a team guarantees him that he won't fall past a certain spot in the draft, then he'd be foolish to stay at St. John's. There will be too much money on the line for him to ignore. But if you see draft experts projecting him in the latter half of the first round or as an early second round pick, I think he'd be absolutely foolish to leave.
Based on the talent level we've all seen this entire season, he is most likely going to wind up being one of the elite players in college basketball next season. And if he rounds out his outside shot and gains a few extra pounds, he has the potential to be one of the best players ever to play at STJ. But at the end of the day, he has to go through the draft process and make the decision that he is most comfortable with.
Pretty much what I'm thinking. The average player in the NBA is a monster. Does anyone here think of Mo in those terms?the sad part is IF some team would want to draft him he would be riding the pine for a few years i think. he's not physically matured yet and his game needs a lot of work. 6 8 small fowards are a dime a dozen. he needs to improve his shot and ball handling for starters. he's not going to get that sitting on an an nba bench

I believe he can't "test" the waters...the new rule is you have to give your word either way a week after the final four. so if he says he is leaving, he must leave. he can't change his mind...it used to be different, however that's how it is now

I think that the new rule is stupid. Basically tou are asking an 18-19 yr old kid to make his decision on his future in a couple of weeks. I've been out of college for almost 30 years and still havent made up my mind on my career. Well I guess that is another reason I am not the biggest fan of the NBA.
Hopefuly Mo will get good advice from family and the coaching staff. If he stayed one more year he would dominate and become a definite lottery pick.
