5. Red E -- "We Are Red-E!" Say it proudly. After watching this program flounder, we are Red-E for anything.

Some names that did not make the cut include: Red Skull, Red Pandas, Red Hens, Dead Red, Red Meat, and Infrared.[/quote]
Cornell "owns" the Big Red name. Don't think we'd want to be known as the "other Big Red."

How about The Red Raiders, but have no clue what a ‘Red Raider’ looks like, or shamefacedly borrowing from another ‘devil’, The Red Devils?
Red Storm is a head scratcher, although according to a NY Post article, circa 2013, students, fans, and alumni, like it and support it.
Go figure.
 
I would stay away from Red Necks. Just saying.

At the time the name “Redmen” was abandoned by St. John’s, its women’s teams were called the “Express” with a subway car as it’s logo. If the unfortunate decision to abandon the name “Remsen” was to be made, the St. John’s braintrust should have adopted the name “Express” for all of its athletic teams.

They did this. It was a guy in a Red tux, top hat and cane I believe.
 
I like "Big Red" too bad it's taken. With all the spandex body suits out there we can be the Redmen and have a bunch of guys dressed in Red spandex or body paint like the Blue Man stuff in Vegas. Too late I guess go Red Storm!!

I realize I'm dating myself, but how about the Red Skeltons ... with maybe Freddie the Freeloader as our mascot?
