a lot of endlessly repetitive chatter

I would love to read this contract if/when it get signed. Aside from the obvious protective provisions that will surely be added in light of his history, there was likely significant discussion around non-compete issues given the probability that MR views this as a stepping stone to a HC gig (possibly as early as next year as a successful year would "cleanse" his record). Or who knows maybe interested parties are wondering if MR could be long term answer here if CM doesn't desire to be in position long-term and contract deals with succession planning type stuff. Likely a doozie of an agreement in any event.

Yes positive AND patient.
I use chop sticks as much as I can to slow down & not rush through my meals.

Isn’t there at least one (Mr.P another or still another mover & shaker???) with the inner most track?
I find it difficult in this era of leaks that ( no I won’t go there as to who will take one etc lol)
Surely one of our well connected posters/powerful alums can spill the beans - that is if there are any ( and yes I know rice & beans haha)
I practice patience and am a patient guy but on Rice not so much ( especially w the Yanks struggling)
Impatience. I need to use chop stix on this one topic and so my fellow countrymen...and women...
Help!
Save my immortal soul!
And grant me the accurate latest other than “no one knows”...
And pass the peanut sauce. Maybe soy.
Your affectionate servant,
General Sheridan

If things work out really well, he could be the next head coach.
He's a local guy.

General, you made me laugh. Gotta laugh.
Thank you!

You never know.
And if his ‘anger issues’ are manageable, he might be a good choice. Great area HS and AAU relationships and a brief but credible HC record.
Let’s get this done and move on...to the games!

Before or after Christmas? I kid of course. Admittedly my patience has been wearing thin, but hope this is true. Any timetable?

If your patience is wearing thin because the university is not moving quick enough to satisfy your timetable, I would suggest you follow another program.

Hold on, let me get a sharpie and add that to the list of things Zaun can't do. (Whips out my white board and Expo marker and begins writing), "Never joke about anything involving the program as it shall always be taken the wrong way". Actually, has anyone ever mentioned a Sharpie on the forum at one point in its existence? That would qualify as "beating a dead horse" which would break another one of Zaun's exclusive rules.

My opinions are not earth-shattering or novel. I hope we seal the deal but no need to attempt to push me to root for another program due to a joke.

Mike, understand you are a dyed-in-the-wool Johnnies fan. But I don't understand your getting a little impatient on this issue. From the very beginning Paultz and others on this site advised that nothing was likely to happen before the end of his AAU team's season at the end of July. Today is only August 6th and latest intelligence is things are moving towards completion. Don't see much basis for impatience under these circumstances. Clearly appears to be a good time for program and glass looks actually a little more than half full at this point.

Jokes understood! But if lawyers are in negotiations as previously stated here how can you ask for a timetable? You’ve gotten great information here about this situation . Negotiations means there is a desire by both parties to come together but they need to find exact common ground! No more no less!

Dear Fordham -
You deserve a typed not a mere clicked "thank you"!
We are human after all and in part it is okay to be impatient - that means to me we care and are (sooo) eager to get on with our program - back to where it once was to wit: successful and enjoyable.
All good.

First off, he literally said he was joking. The response from Mr. Morgan was unnecessarily rude, IMO. Secondly, this team hasn't won an NCAA tournament this millennium and the courting of this particular coach has been going on for several years now. I understand having patience, but is it necessary to be critical of those that don't have any at this point?

If you find that rude, I would hate to see how you react to someone letting you know you spilled some ketchup on your tie. But, in the interest of harmony, let me rephrase. Mike Z, remain calm, all is well. Our most trusted posters are advising that positive developments are on the way. The staff is out there working hard for recruits, and a new AC will soon be here to make us an even better team and more attractive destination for the best and brightest high school players. Good things have happened this summer, which will translate to wins this winter, and dancing next spring. Thank you, Mike Z, for being a loyal and dedicated fan.

I always appreciate when people give me a heads up on ketchup on my tie or something in my nose I can't see because it's clear it's benevolent. I just don't appreciate unwarranted snark or unwarranted escalation. If someone said "Oh man, will it ever be sunny again? So much rain today!", the last thing I would do is approach him in a confrontational manner and say "Why don't you go live in SoCal then if it's not meeting your crazy expectations?".

It's all good, admittedly I was a bit wound up myself because I feel like my posts are sometimes under a microscope relative to others. It's also hard to assess tone on a forum as we all know. I would never root for another team and this program needs all the fans it can get. Especially ones who spend good money and attend games. I'm excited about the possibility of Rice and a potential uptick in recruiting if added.

We are all fans with the same hopes and dreams for the SJU basketball program. My dream is to one day rush the court after our guys win a national championship. Or at the very least open a bottle of champagne in my family room if I'm too old to travel to be there in person. I'm sure everyone here, including Mike, finds one of the most appealing thing about winter to be the college basketball season-knowing there are 2 nights a week to look forward to at MSG or CA or in our homes watching the Redmen play. Sometimes, we all get beaten down by the coaching carousel and the near misses on the 4 and 5 star recruits. But I feel good about things right now., and believe that this program is heading in the right direction.

From your lips to God’s ears, Ray...about the “national championship(s)” and “cork-popping”...

It may seem like it, but it hasn’t been a ‘millennium’ since our last NCAA Tirunament win—has it. Windy City?
I joke.
I see both sides on this. All of us are anxious and a tad impatient—some more than others.
But we are close, so close, to being relevant again, and this Mike Rice add will be one more solid piece to the formula for success.
I believe we will get there.
Let’s go Johnnies.
