A fan rant

Comical. This is not my rant as mentioned on top of the post. Sole purpose of me posting is to engage in a conversation. It's clear there is few people that liked Lavin and there is some that no matter what happens at SJU will spin it as negative.
Only thing I do agree with the rant is a major need of a solid assistant coach and experienced AD that can bring in the funds.
If it was up to me i would rather have Mullin as AD (NBA office experience) and bring in one of the Hurley brothers as head coach. Latter on if the experiment did not work out transition Mullin from AD to head coach. But I respect the choice and support him and wish the program nothing but the best.

Lavin's name did bring our program into the spotlight after Norm but, it was clear that he is NOT a good coach after few seasons. I have stories about Lavin that would make your head spin. He certainly needed to go.

One more thing about new AD. I hope that he cleans house. I am talking about a serious clean up within the athletic administration. There is few cancers that need to go. For example, administrator that was responsible for coach Darby is still around. My opinion, he should of been gone with AD.

Sorry Mr. Perfect it is obvious my college was not as good as St.Johns

this thread is giving me worse indigestion than the extra French fries I failed to avoid during lunch. I believe CM was told the job was his if he wanted it DURING last season. There were a ton of smoke and mirrors thrown out in the media after we lost to SDSU. And I'm glad that happened if true!

CM is going to bring us to a place where almost all of us are content. There are a few who won't be positive unless we win 4 titles in a row. But believe me when I say, this was and will continue to be a slam dunk hire for the program

This is not my rant but interested how you guys feel about it. I see some valid points but also a bit of exaggeration.

I'm sorry. Chris was hired in March. We have a six-man rotation again as he drives more people away than ISIS:

Jordan
Obepka
Both Delarosas
Sampson
Doughty
Barnes-Thompkins
Henderson
Stewart

Fill out the staff already. You are waiting 3 months for Ed Pinckney let alone a director of basketball operations. Allen Iverson voice: Ed Pinckney?!

And then Pinckney says NO?!

We have NO bench coach. Chris hasn't coached. Matt was a team manager for Norm and a video coordinator for Hoiberg. Barry was 52-70 at Manhattan.

Who have we signed? LoVett? He was coming for Lavin, too. We lost Sampson. Mussini and Papagiannis were being recruited by the former staff so if they come, it is the same situation as LoVett.

Barnes-Thompkins went to BC. Doughty went to VCU. They are the equal to Ellison.

The Spanish center is 170 lbs. Williams is coming off of surgeries to both shoulders and hasn't played in a year; Mvouika is coming off back surgery; Johnson is coming back from a year suspension for drugs! Oh, and I forgot the Tennessee transfer who is sitting out this year averaging a big 1 point and 1 rebound a game in the SEC!

Chris has publicly stated he doesn't know the NCAA rules, is making bets on the radio with Craig Carton and publicly says he didn't think he would like watching HS kids play.

We have a school lead by a president who was never a president; no AD; and a head coach who has never coached.

Chris chirped about NYC kids and throwing a blanket over the metro areas. But, thankfully, he has the same national and international recruiting strategy we had already in place!

Let's call BULLSHIT. Chris knew he and D'Alesandaro were getting fired from Sacramento because Divac took over. And he knew he couldn't get an NBA job again after he bombed at Golden State and Sacramento. Even Jim Fucking Dolan wanted no part of him!!!!

So he backdoored Lav.

This is a 10-win team at best. Wtf?! There. I feel better.

If you let people speak long enough, they will reveal their character. You are no fan of the program, and certainly have an ax to grind.

I took your little inside scoops initially as someone who is close to someone in the know, and simply couldn't keep information that wasn't yet public to himself.

Then you ATTEMPT to drop a bomb on Mullin (you missed badly) by offering a scathing, negative opinion of him and his first few months on the job. You're a low-life, period.

Obviously you know you are going to get banned, so you drop a bomb so you can get in some parting words. My only hope is that Paul tracks IP addresses, and we won't hear from you again.

100% on point with 1st paragraph. I think the change should of happened last year. From what I know is that CM needed time to make family transition to east coast.

Assuming Lavin is behind these rumors (and assuming these rumors are false), what exactly does Lavin gain by doing this?

It's an absurd thing to even theorize. Lavin went out with class, and has publicly said some very nice things about Mullin. I even got a message from him where he stated he thinks Mullin will do a great job and was a great hire.

To be clear, I'm not theorizing it, just responding to Avon's post.

I should have been clearer. I realized you weren't making that accusation.

there is no bombs in my post,
there is no ax to grind,
there is nothing that can be said about Mullin since we have not played a game yet,
no one is getting banned,
If you were smarter you would know that the rant is not my style of writing. GO SJU

Well we do know Sampson would be coming here next year if Lavin was still the coach because no kid from Louisiana would give a verbal to St. John's and then change his mind and go somewhere else right?

Oh, wait, that did happen while Lavin was the coach didn't it.

Well, we do know that if Lavin would have stayed, Obekpa nor the school would have announced his intent to transfer, right?

Oh wait, that did happen last year while Lavin was coach.

Well, if Lavin was still here, then no players would have transferred out, right?

Oh wait, Lavin did have transfer's while he was coach.

Well when Lavin was hired he accepted the LOIs from the incoming freshman who signed under the previous staff and didn't replace them with other players right?

Oh wait, Lavin released the previous regime's recruit and brought in his own.

Well if Lavin was still here, Jordan would not have stopped going to class while visiting Philly and would be eligible for next season.

Oh wait, going to Philly was a two year thing with him and he stopped going to class while Lavin was still coach.

Well, if Lavin was still coach, we wouldn't have any recruits with eligibility question mark's.

Oh wait, while Lavin was coach he did have player's he recruited whose eligibility were question mark's leading to one never making in on campus as a student, one coming in mid-year his freshman year, one who enrolled but had to withdraw as he did not have the core to graduate from Juco and two others who had to sit out a year one of whom has since transferred.

Well, ah, ah, never mind.

I wouldn't see any possible reason to re-post someone else's garbage except to flame the board.

Then when the reaction hits, you run from it, and plead, "Don't shoot me, I'm only conveying something I heard (or in this case, read). I hear a lot of stuff too, but I also don't bother to ask any of my friends in the know for confidential information. And when they tell me, I keep my mouth shut. As I should. And as you should have.

Geneseo is a very good school

No one is running and certainly not asking for info to share with you.
You sound very angry. Go out, get some fresh air. It's 82 degrees

People here know my story. Most know yours as well.

And I'm on my way to Cali for a week in the sun so I'm far from angry.

Should we all start sharing what college we went to now? Not sure why where googman went to college is relevant.

Anyone that has to "rant" about coach before he coaches his first game is not a reasonable fan and most likely not a reasonable person.

Going on that logic, what about all the posters on here who rant about how amazing we are and how saved this program is and how much of a powerhouse we will be.... yet Coach has not sat on that bench, ever, as a coach in the college game and has no in game assistant. However, when someone raises doubts and in my opinion legitimate concerns, although the format and way it was expressed is questionable, he all of a sudden is unreasonable because he's on a contrary belief than you?

I'm a huge St. John's fan. There are some, not all, accurate harsh realities of what Google posted.

Assuming Lavin is behind these rumors (and assuming these rumors are false), what exactly does Lavin gain by doing this?

Lavin has an ax to grind because he thinks Chris went after the job while he was still "coaching". That sums it up.
