2025 Portal

Winning turns heads, garners national attention, opens pocket books, helps enrollment and provides impetus to successfully compete in NIL/ transfer era. Not nuts about these college hoops times on a few levels, but clearly we have excellent chance to succeed in challenging times.

Father Shanley’s “Dream Team” of Rick, Ed Kull, Repole & other significant donors take a bow!

can someone post a list of the NIL organizations that support SJU and what the differences are between them?

also is the NIL considered a deductible donation for IRS purposes?

The two that I know of are Storm Marketing and Flat Top Fund although I have heard there are two others that are more private. From my experience (I donate to both), Flat Top seems to be geared to hosting larger, more expensive and prestigious events. A day at Saratoga this summer (unfortunately rained out), a golf outing at Sebonac on Long Island, the Elite Eight dinner last year (although I could be wrong on that one). Storm Marketing seems to be involved in smaller gatherings and actually getting sponsors to support NIL, which really was the original purpose-having athletes get some money for advertising products. As opposed to what it's morphed into-direct pay to play. Not sure what will happen to collectives if the colleges end up paying players directly.

Not tax deductible, although one collective at another school tried to come with a format to make it so; unsure where that stands but I suspect the IRS will win that one.

To keep on topic, I'm sure that NIL money will be put to good use for transfers.

Is anyone else scouting the other teams' players during our games for potential transfers?
Watching a Delaware / Hofstra game- forgot about that guy Camden from Delaware- he can stroke it- has size- don’t think his D is quite there for Rick though.

If he’s cool being a 7/8 man- playing 15-20mins a game- sign me up

Old friend Cruz Davis lit the lamp for 28 points. Efficient 12-17 FG-A, 4-7 from deep.
Glad he found a perfect fit.

We will need an experienced PG so Sim can play the 2. And we need to keep the rest of our team. No portal for our guys. But please let’s enjoy the right now. It’s great.
Btw: met Zuby after the game. Wonderful guy. Our Willis Reed. Our Captain. Go Johnnies!!!!
Perhaps Boogie Fland is tired of losing. We also need a two guard who can hit threes. If it’s Wilcher (if he finds his shot ) great, if not, find another. This is a business, these kids are being paid to perform.
